Public Enemy Fans Will Remix “Get Up Stand Up”

Public Enemy fans will get their chance to remix the group’s single, “Get Up Stand Up,” which features Brother Ali. As part of a new contest through BitTorrent, PE will release their favorite remix of the fan submissions as the top prize.

Gary “G-Wiz” Rinaldo, Chuck D’s manager, recently released a statement via BitTorrent about why this makes sense for Public Enemy

“For many established people in the music business, there’s a fear that comes along with it,” Rinaldo said. “We don’t have that fear. The ability to freely share an archive and have flexibility on how it can be used is an extremely powerful tool when it comes to making music and media available.”

Fans can participate by downloading the Public Enemy Bundle and obtaining the “Get Up Stand Up” track. After requesting for the Bundle to be unlocked, fans will get the exclusive acapellas and stems to use for the remix. The top winner will have their song released by Public Enemy and they will also receive studio equipment and Public Enemy merchandise. Others may not have their song released but they also have a chance to win equipment and merch.

    Submissions are due July 18.

The original Public Enemy release for “Get Up Stand Up” features Brother Ali. The video of the track can be found below.
