Madchild has been nominated for a 2013 MuchMusic Video Award for his “Jitters” video, which features Matt Brevner and Dutch Robinson. The other nominees in the Hip Hop Video of the Year category are Drake, Classified and K-OS. Madchild is also gearing up for the summer release of Lawnmower Man, his second solo album and the follow-up to 2012’s Dope Sick.
“It’s an honor to be nominated for a MuchMusic Video Award and feels good to know that my solo album has been so well received by not only fans, but the media as well,” Madchild says in an exclusive statement to HipHopDX. “It feels great to receive all the critical acclaim for Dope Sick, but it also has made me hungrier than ever. I’ve tried to use that, to push myself to the next level on this new album.”
The awards will take place Sunday June 16 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and are scheduled to be hosted by Psy.
The Suburban Noize/Battle Axe Records artist will also appear on the Vans Warped Tour this summer and recently released the video for “Tiger Style.”
Madchild enjoyed success as a member of the group Swollen Members before embarking upon a solo career. Dope Sick debuted at #3 on the Canadian Billboard Top 200 and #7 on the US Heatseekers chart. Madchild also appeared in 2012 on a Canadian tour with Tech N9ne before launching his own 40-date headlining tour across the country.
