Nicki Minaj Apologizes For Not Performing At Summer Jam 2012

Nicki Minaj and HOT 97 personality Peter Rosenberg finally had the opportunity to address last year’s Summer Jam fiasco live on-air earlier today (May 28). Before the Young Money rapstress shared her take on the incident, Rosenberg informed listeners that he was hardly aware of the comments he made in regards to Minaj’s “Starships” record while hosting the festival’s smaller stage. He also revealed that he wasn’t aware of the fact that the stage was being streamed live online.

Although Minaj referred to the incident as “water under the bridge,” the rapper did express her regret at letting fans down.

“It’s cool. It’s water under the bridge,” she revealed. “It’s so long ago. I can’t even act like I care anymore. I don’t care. I really don’t, but I appreciate you guys having me here…This is the thing, in hindsight I should have just did the show because I’ve never allowed anyone to—no matter what I’ve gone through personally or whatever professionally, I’ve never allowed that to make me let my fans down. And even if it wasn’t a Nicki Minaj fan, just a fan in general, somebody that was there that paid to see the show. I think in hindsight I should have just came out. Because it’s my hometown especially…I apologize for not coming out and doing the show because they had nothing to do with that.”

Nicki Minaj caused quite the uproar last year when her performance at Summer Jam was canceled shortly after Rosenberg referred to her “Starships” record as “bullshit.”

Despite her apology to fans, the Queens emcee turned “American Idol” judge later addressed Rosenberg and spoke on what she felt was his lack of a resume.

“I get it, that’s what you do. I guess, to me, I just don’t know your resume. You know what I’m saying? So, I never found you funny. I never found you entertaining. I never found you smart. I just found you annoying,” said Minaj while speaking directly to Rosenberg. “Because I grew up in New York. Well, I’ve grown up on HOT 97. I know Angie and I know Flex, Mister Cee, and all these people…To me you don’t have enough of a resume to make those comments.”

    1. “Pter Rosenberg did not “have enough of a resume” to make the comments he made about “Starships” at last year’s Summer Jam.” lmao death. Nicki better spill that tea

    2. He can’t say his opinion because you don’t know his resume? fuck that and
Fuck her for tryna turn this into ‘putting a limit on black women’

    3. It’s funny they didn’t say anything bad about her at all just shit on that song (rightfully) and Wayne made her cancel. LOL

    4. its simple..this bitch think shes hotter than she rly is , and have a life inside rap long so she got a big head of a comment someone said- whats said all around america n she caught feelings, missed some change and prob lost a few fans in the process for being some premadonna bitch. smh she needs to humble herself down

    5. Broad sitting there in spandex with a golden hat and a wig on, and we’re supposed to take her serious? I didn’t bother with the whole thing but based on what I heard she’s sounding more and more like a douchebag diva by the minute, I guess that’s what hanging around Wayne does to you..

    6. this stupid cunt along with her labelmates need to apologize for butchering a genre that i hold dear.

      1. That corny Jew could shit in your face and the only thing you could do about it is hope he didn’t have Mexican food.

    7. Rosenberg and all of Hot 97 are straight PUNKS for letting nicki pull that bullshit but im sure they got paid smdh

    8. Shes selfish for not doing the show. Whatever fans she had showed up to see her and she chose ‘keeping it real’ over being a performer. Some artists just dont get it. (without fans you cease to be famous) idiot.

    9. Ummm…Nicki been in the game for about a minute and a half, and she is calling somebody else out on Resume? Really? Anybody who has American Idol on their resume should STFU!

She said it herself – somebody criticized her for a song that was hot garbage, so she ran and hid. If Rosenberg has no resume, why did Nicki let herself be chased out of her home town. Any rapper worth anything would have taken the criticism, come to the show IN THEIR OWN TOWN, shut it down with a dope performance and showed up the critics. But you need a dope resume to be able to do that…not a bunch of pop songs.

I guess if you criticize YMCMB they run and hide and wait for some internet blog Stans to defend them.
