Freddie Gibbs “ESGN” Release Date, Cover Art & Tracklist

Freddie Gibbs’ discography can be confusing. However, whether free or retail, mixtape, EP or album, it’s often well-received and critically-touted. The Gary, Indiana emcee announced today that he has secured plans and a month to release his next album, ESGN (Evil Seeds Grow Naturally). The title shares its name with Gibbs’ label, and a column he’s penned at RapRadar.com.

According to Gibbs, the album is coming in July:

Even prior to his public departure from Young Jeezy’s CTE Records imprint, Gibbs had announced that he recording a full-length album with Oxnard, California producer/emcee Madlib. To be called Cocaine Pinata, the release follows Thuggin’ and Shame, both short EP efforts from 2011 and 2012, respectively. He also went to retail in 2011 with The Lord Giveth, The Lord Taketh Away, an EP produced by Showoff Records’ Statik Selektah.

Besides a release date, details are slim on ESGN. Gibbs’ lone retail solo release was 2010’s Str8 Killa. Also billed as an EP, the 10 eight-track effort was released on physical and digital formats, and scored Gibbs and Decon Records a position on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts. The effort featured Bun B, Jay Rock and The Cool Kids’ Chuck Inglish.

      1. I really try to find decent music from decent artists but they seem non-existent. The whole beast coast thing, and alot of the younger ones have potential but they aren’t there yet. Gibbs may have reached his peak, or maybe not, either way he is the only one I seem to look forward to hearing.

      1. He has a fan base, small but dedicated. Why u care what he sells first week? Sounds like bitch ass haterism to me…

      2. 30k would be amazing for someone like Gibbs. hes not really out there like that. you know he aint on them DJ Khaled songs

      3. who cares. watch you make 750 bucks in two weeks at mcdonalds. nerd ass nigga talking numbers know nothin

    1. Great to hear that Freddie is coming out with a “true” full length lp (especially without Jeezy’s involvement). We fuckin’ love you Gangsta Gibbs and the fans can’t wait to hear what you’re cooking up!

      1. what does that even mean? y’all fagot ass internet geeks are looking for things to hate. fuck off with your lame ass

    2. Carter. even though Paula`s posting is flabbergasting, last saturday I bought volvo after having made $8497 this – 5 weeks past and-in excess of, ten/k last munth. it’s realy the easiest work Ive ever done. I began this 9-months ago and right away was bringin home more than $72, per-hour. I use the details on this web-site…… Fox85 com

      1. I know, no one cares about you. It’s not even sad anymore.
It’s your time to open the bottle.

      2. still nobody cares and why are yall so butthurt. this nigga is a one trick pony. he wont sell. he does have some talent but lets face it,hes boring. talks about the same shit on each song.I rather bump old school Jadakiss than Gibbs anyday so…..Yall can eat a dick cuz gibbs is trash now

      3. Right, because Jadakiss isn’t a one trick pony at all, and he sells lots of records! GTFOH! Eat a dick, BTW anyone who uses the term “ButtHurt” is queer….

    3. much respect fro gibbs love his gritty approach and gangsterism real ill nigga cant wait baby face killa was FIRE

    4. First of all this rapper is gonna flop for leaving CTE cause he’s never gonna have the sales or the mainstream appeal. And all underground rapper are wack as shit because they’re shouting at us about how corrupt the gov’t is over some corny premo sound-a-like production . Plus he’s clearly trying to be tupac in his music and his looks.

      1. As long as he keeps it real it dont matter if he flops. Hes not making top 40 hits trying to sell out like French Montana who flopped anyways

      2. Ignorant ass. Gibbs raps over some cold ass beats! Gibbs is blackballed by the industry. There is a market for Gibbs but Jimmy Iovine is still butthurt that Gibbs walked up into his office with choppers. Thats why Kendrick dont fuck with him. Anyways, people dont wanna hear that brutally honest gangsta rap. Buncha pussies.

    5. Dude tries way too hard to be gangsta…I guess that’s easy when your dad is the chief of Police in Indiana….Poser…

      1. Son you stupid? Ya his dad was a cop at one point but that don’t make him a poser. He OG and that’s what he raps about. and get your facts straight before you talk bad bout anybody, his dad was not chief of police in indiana he was nothing more than a officer in the local PD

      2. Been to Gary so I’m not understanding what that means..If you from there you know the real on this clown..son hid behind P.D before and his pops been kept this poser outta real shit..Jeezy stopped fucking with him because he thought he was an informant…

      3. Jeezy stopped fucking with him because Gibbs left CTE because he wanted to actually release an album one day.

      1. co-sign. Gibbs music is 10x more entertaining than Kendrick’s shit. BFK intro >>>>>> any song off GKMC

    6. mainstream gangsta music is on life support….i mean really, its easy to say ‘everybody in the hood sells dope, robs, and bust guns’ but that simply is not the truth…90% of the people in the ‘hood’ don’t want to be there……making real music that does not glamorize that life is much more therapeutic for the community, ala G.k.m.c……that gangsta shit fucked up the mentality of a whole generation….real talk…..Gangsta Gibb’s father was a police officer and he Gibb’s himself attended college, not saying he was a poser in anyway, but one needs to present a complete picture…..

      1. Gibbs got kicked out of college in his first semester! He was there for a football scholarship. His pops was a cop, but his uncles were deep in the street. There’s your complete picture. GIbbs makes real music. Unlike Kendrick in GKMC, he was living that street life. He is giving his brutally honest interpretation about the struggles of his life, his friends lives, and his community. Kendrick didnt bang, didnt rob, didnt sell, didnt smoke bud, etc. Just because GIbbs made mistakes in an environment plagued by murder and poverty doesn’t mean Kendrick is a better person or his music is better. Listen to One Mo Time, Neverending Cycle, The Ghetto and tell me Gibbs doesnt put his experiences in perspective. Gibbs is GANGSTA rap, Kendrick is not. Kendrick is conscious rap, Gibbs is too! Fuck you if u cant understand that. Gibbs > Kendrick

      2. His dad was a crooked cop and he attended college for a short time on a football scholarship but was kicked out for selling weed, so what complete picture are you presenting?

      3. I thought it was the army he got kicked out of for smoking weed?

My homies dad was a cop he still got in all kinds of trouble, did lots of drugs. Got arrested once.

      4. @ J……who gives a fuck about gangsta shit at this point? N.W.A introduced the world to the harsh realities of those doing without in the late 80’s, and to take it back even further, have you ever listened to The Message? Grandmaster Flash shined a light on the blight and sub-standard circumstances of OUR communities some thirty odd years ago. At this point we are no longer introducing OUR struggle to the world, we are glamorizing it….Fuck you if you can’t understand that at this point we are beating the proverbial dead horse…..We need solutions, not awareness genius…..

      5. Awareness cant do anything but help. Anyways, if you listen to the majority of rap music you would have no idea about the struggles that those from the hood face. There is no solution, but somebody needs to talk about the problems of society. Can’t all be positive…cuz in reality it isnt

    7. ibbs is blackballed by the industry. There is a market for Gibbs but Jimmy Iovine is still butthurt that Gibbs walked up into his office with choppers. Thats why Kendrick dont fuck with him. Anyways, people dont wanna hear that brutally honest gangsta rap. Buncha pussies.

    8. Imagine if Freddie Gibbs is signed to a major record label, or is still signed to Young Jeezy’s label. This album would’ve taken him a long time to complete and release. I’m very glad that he’s releasing it in July, and that he’s continuing to show his commitment by putting out a release date and a tracklist as soon as the news of the album release broke out. Let’s hope that the album doesn’t get pushed back.

    9. “As long as he keeps it real it dont matter if he flops.”

Keepin it real don’t pay the bills.

      1. boy you know nothing about the music industry. this guy lives off rap. he tours and gets paid doing what he loves while your lame ass is doin some hurtin shit

    10. You bitches hating on Gibbs cuz his Dad was a cop, meanwhile you support a fat ass former correctional officer who stole a real gangster’s name and lifestyle.

    11. one of the dopest new rappers… baby faced killa & str8 killa were amazing plus both the madlib 12 inches.. i can’t wait for this and Cocaine Pinatas…. fagot ass net nerds up on here yappin’ stay knowin nada.. RT

    12. Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs
      midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik
      Str8 Killa No Filla
      Cold Day In Hell
      Baby Face Killa

These mixtapes prove Gibbs is one of the realist rappers in the game

    13. Gibbs new title for his next album. RSDS (Real Shit Dont Sell) then followed by Back 2 Sellin Crack…lol poor Gibbs is blacklisted by labels…suck cuz he does have skills. oh well see you on the WHERE THEY AT milk carton..LMAO!!!!

    14. REAL SHIT DOSENT SELL? Plenty of “real rappers” have been good at selling and making hits, one are he lacks which he picked up on is his instrumentals ie: plies, SPICE 1 is REAL, and still has his cd’s on the shevles in f.y.e. !!!

    15. Gibbs is the best rapper to come out since Biggie & Pac died next to Big L and Em. if you dont understand listen to Live From Gary Indiana pt 1 & 2, The Miseducation of Freddie Gibbs, midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmusic & Str8 killa no filla.

      1. at least some poeple fuckin get it. name one rapper to come out after biggie and pac died thats better then the people tre listed

      2. Yeah, but lyrically gibbs isnt in the top, but his deliver is spotless and better than almost all out there right now

      3. lyrics dont always need to be based on punchlines and similes gibbs tells real life strorieds the dude is an incredible story teller much like nas, he spits TRUE shit about life troubles and his multi syllable rhymes are almost (i mean ALMOST) comparable to EM’s. the dude is a great lyricist and has a remarkable flow.

      4. I think Freddie Gibbs is dope, but I can’t put him anywhere near the top of my list, I mean, I think eLZhi is a better lyricist, and I like Black Milk’s sound more, but amongst the emcees today, he is definitely a good listen.

      5. im not comparing his newest shit to Pacs or bigs but his older shit definetely (like before CTE). he has that heart that is hard to find around anymmore

      1. Doughboyz cashout just another garbage write off for Jeezy. I heard their wack asses on that new Jeezy EP. They’re horrible. Gangsta Gibbs and Scrilla will eat them pups for lunch.

    17. I’m buying this instead of waiting for Spotify because he released it two weeks early. Who does that? Dope

    18. Nobody on the market is checking for this fake gangsta rap artist. Gibbs was never about that life and if you want someone with street credintials than pick up Lil Wayne’s newest album!!

      1. Wayne has been in the music business since he was like 13.. i think he was in a boy band called hot boyz (sounds kind of gay) and has been far removed from the hood ever since.. he’s a junkie skateboarding pop starlette not a gangster.. get your shit straight.. you sound like a dick sucker with a name like bobyahedtothis

    19. you’ll like this site more if you stay out of the comment section. it’s 90% nerds spreading hate. internerds (see what i did?)

    20. Damn,

I didn’t expect anything crazy, but man…..Gibbs didn’t go wrong with the production choices or the overall style of the songs. Enough trap beats, enough real rap, and sure as hell enough shit to take you to the project kitchens.

      8.5/10

Dope street album……..Better than Jeezy???? Possibly, lets see where this project takes Gibbs.

      1. Gucci doesnt have any classics. His BEST album (state vs radic) isn’t even as good as Gibbs’ WORST work (BFK)
