Chris Lighty’s Family & Friends Petition For Proper Death Investigation

The family of late record executive and Hip Hop industry veteran Chris Lighty is seeking answers. Lighty’s mother, Jessica Brooks, along with the Violator Entertainment founder’s close friend attorney Scott Leemon are demanding additional tests from the Bronx Medical Examiner and District Attorney.

According to a XXLMag.com exclusive, at the time of Lighty’s August 2012 death—which was believed to be a suicide—several tests were not conducted to be certain, in the family’s eyes. Beginning in September, Leemon launched an investigation to uncover various unsolved questions from the Bronx, New York death-scene. “The main problem that we encountered was that the NYPD did not do a thorough investigation into Chris’ death,” Leemon said in a statement. “In fact, what they did do was cursory, at best.”

Specificly, Leemon wants answers as to why a gunpowder residue test was not conducted on Lighty’s hands. The onetime manager to 50 Cent, Q-Tip and Diamond D was slated to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, despite the absence of the test. Leemon also wants a DNA test conducted on the weapon used in the death, something he claims was never completed. According to reports, the Medical Examiner’s Office has the evidence and tools to conduct both tests.

Lighty’s mother added: “We have uncovered real information that needs to be followed up on by those in authority.”

Questioning the suicide ruling of death, the family has created a petition to urge these tests be faciliated. It is available to sign at iPetition.com.

    1. This is really sad, how come everytime and I mean EVERYTIME somebody dies in the Hip-Hop community these days it’s trivialized into some outrageous conspiracy theory?? The man had serious divorce issues, hefty IRS tax debts, wifey probably got the kids and God knows how much alimony. At the end of the day you have a poor, broke, discouraged lonely middle-aged man, unfortunately this type of thing ain’t all that uncommon. It’s just sad to see these tragic situations trvialized, R.I.P. Chris Lightly.

      1. His IRS debts were paid. He borrowed the money from 50 and paid him back with interest. Do your homework. And they never tested his hands for gunshot residue. They only assumed it was a suicide.
