Scott Storch On 50 Cent: “We Can’t Make A Bad Record”

Scott Storch says he and 50 Cent can’t lose. The Miami, Florida-based producer of Curtis Jackson’s “Candy Shop” and “Just A Lil Bit” says he hopes to work with the G-Unit general again because of their flawless track record.

“50 [Cent], he’s ill,” Storch said in the two-and-a-half minute clip. “For some reason, we can’t make a bad record. Every time me and him make a record, it’s some fucking dope, fly shit. The success rate is 100% with us doing stuff together.”

Storch also discussed his work on Dr. Dre’s Detox in the video. He says Dre probably has about “3 million” songs recorded for the album, but he does not discuss when or if the long-delayed project will ever come out.

Elsewhere, Storch reflects on his work with the Aftermath Entertainment mogul in the late 1990s and how they created what would become Storch’s signature piano- and string-driven sound that was featured on Dre’s 2001 LP and elsewhere.

    1. Shit that album has been a decade in the making he should have millions of songs recorded for it and shit. My thing is I understand Dre is a perfectionist but out of the 1000’s of songs I know he created for it working with Pharrell, Eminem, Natte Dogg, Jay Z, Kendrick, Nas shit probably literally half of the upper echeleon hiphip heavy weights this nigga hasn’t created 18 songs he feels are good enough?…damn….

      1. Don’t be fooled with that “perfectionist” shit. We won’t hear those records as long as Dr. Dre alive and / or Aftermath facing huge financial issues, they can simply afford to sit on them. Beats By Dr. Dre as a company was the last nail in DETOX’s coffin, after such success there is no turning back (except… see my previous sentence). No doubt, the good old Doc has probably the most amazing catalogue not just in hip-hop, but in the whole music industry. Too bad he’s too afraid taking ANY risk by dropping ANYTHING from all these (more likely high quality) tracks.

    2. 50 and Scott need each other right now. Y’all should checkout thegrandreport, the be having some good stuff too

    3. Candy shop pt2, that was a dope record, always fucking good atmosphere in the club when this song drops

Get Ready “Fuck Fame” Welcome Home Ja

      1. Except that Jay and D have been on songs together. Busta had em both on a track. Where he went wrong was the production. Ja ain’t getting that level of production at this stage in his career.

    17. who cares about detox? i know i dont. after hearing that lame single a few years back with eminem, i am not even waiting. every few months we hear about detox.

    18. Actually, Scott, you are wrong, “Candy Shop” and I forget the other garbage that sounded like it (don’t know if you produced) is the worst record 50 ever made. That was a “okay, I need to match “Get Rich Or Die Trying” sales numbers so I need to reach those 14 year old white kids in the burbs”. To highlight just how horrible the whole record and logic behind it was, you guys then proceeded to make a song about BJs while creating a song that you hope will appeal to kids. That’s one 50 should want to take back. It is a a blight on his almost spotless record as a rapper. That said, you are one of the best producers out there bar none. Take that powder off your nose as someone else suggested and get back seriously into this before you get too old and no one wants to mess with a 50 year old producer. If 50 calls you, don’t sit down with him and plot the recrd. It would be worse now that he definitely needs a radio record. I can’t imagine the unimaginable garbage that would come out. Just cook up the beat on your own and send it to him. It can be radio friendly but still hard. “Lean Back” comes to mind.

      1. dont act like you went ever in the club n heard the 50 cent joint n went off. 50s failed to do that lately but that joint right there set shit off in the clubs.

    19. I give Scott storch a thump up for his hard work, rather than being diss.It good to give person their flower when they are alive, keep up the good work storch my nigga.

    20. OK While HipHopDX reports on BS, other media outlets are reporting the truth. For example

Grammy award-winning singer LAUREN HILL has been ordered
by a judge to undergo counseling because of her conspiracy theories.
What was her conspiracy theory? That the music industry oppresses people with actual talent in favor of pumping out mindless nonsense.

      1. The Judges order that Hill undergo what amounts to brainwashing and re-education simply for publicly proclaiming the fact that the music industry is designed to strangle true talent while promoting amoral, vacuous, mindless, turgid drivel, is part of the increasing trend towards labeling common sense as a mental illness if it goes against the establishment grain in any way.

      2. Good for him or her. Anyone listening to Lauren and not thinking something is wrong is crazy. Us fans can sit on the sidelines and just make comments, but her family needs to worry. Maybe conspiracy theory is too strong a term, but something is definitely off. Do you really think her “conspiracy theories” are on point? She recently commented that the Kris Kross dude’s recent drug use and death is another example of what she has been trying to say. Really? Maybe dude just liked getting high. Also, you might be getting mad at the judge, not understand the reasoning, but usually, when a defendant is ordered to undergo psych evaluation, its for their own good. Its not against them.

    21. 50 cent used to make good music. his first album is undisputed so i wont bother but candy shop, outta control, ill whip ya head, husslas ambition, window shopper, even ayo tech and i get money were all bangers outside of GRODT.. its just he hasnt changed his style all the albums got the same type of shit and when you hear his new music u just feel like your hearin the same old.

      1. yeah but the stuff hes been dropping for his new album been pretty good tho.. major distribution and we up

    22. nigga lyrics game is short. all he talk abou tis money and hoes he dont got nothing meaningful to say no more you can feel it in his music its not his num 1 on the list of shit to do
