On top of the weekend’s scheduled performances, attendee’s at the annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California were treated to a surprise performance from R&B icon R. Kelly during a set from alternative rock band Phoenix.

The crooner went on to perform his 2003 hit “Ignition” as Phoenix played their “1901” record. Video of R. Kelly and Phoenix’s performance can be seen below.

The first weekend of Coachella also served as a sort of reunion for noted Staten Island spitters Wu-Tang Clan. The group closed out the first weekend of Coachella as they performed a medley of favorites including “C.R.E.A.M.” and “Protect Ya Neck.”

Other Hip Hop acts that went on to grace the stage at this weekend’s Coachella kick-off included 2 Chainz and Pusha T.

Notable acts slated to perform during Coachella’s closing weekend (April 19 – April 22) include Earl Sweatshirt, Action Bronson, Aesop Rock, and Janelle Monae.
