Last December, “Memories Back Then,” a track by T.I. featuring Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B. and Kris Stephens premiered on Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning. The song was initially believed to be included on T.I.’s then-upcoming, Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head deluxe edition album. However, reportedly due to problems attempting to clear a Gotye sample to their Grammy Award-winning hit “Somebody That I Used To Know.”
This week, HipHopDX was in Boring, Oregon with B.o.B., who revealed that the song is in fact releasing formally. Speaking about the global impact of Hip Hop led the Decatur, Georgia star to confirming the song’s upcoming placement. “As I travel the world, I see [Hip Hop] really seeping into the roots of the youth, on a widespread scale. Like, I remember I went to Australia. People were like, ‘Yo, you gotta do somethin’ with Kendrick [Lamar]!’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, man. I already did; it just ain’t out yet.” B.o.B laughed, before confirming that he was indeed referring to “Memories Back Then.”
The Grand Hustle/Atlantic Records star already crossed paths with Compton, California’s Kendrick Lamar, and the two gold-selling artists shot as visual, as previously reported by Rap-Up.com. Bobby Ray explained that while the track did not make the cut for Trouble Man, it is a stand-out for the forthcoming label compilation. “We shot the video for it. It’s gonna be the lead single for the Hustle Gang EP.”
“We makin’ plans for the Hustle Gang EP,” said B.o.B., the same week that label founder T.I. revealed that Hustle Gang will have a mixtape within four weeks. Bobby added, “It’s crazy. It’s foolish. It’s a great video.”
