Russell Simmons is coming to Chicago for the Chicago Hip-Hop Summit. Along with co-hosts Kanye West and Common, plus R. Kelly, Ludacris, Mya, Twista, Foxy Brown, Damon Dash, CEO of Roc-A-Fella, Raz B (formerly of B2K), Doug E. Fresh, Layzie Bone and Shawna (Disturbing The Peace), Russ’ goal is to register more young people to vote. The Summit will take place on Saturday, March 27 at the University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion, 525 South Racine Avenue.

The theme is “Taking Back Responsibility: Celebrating Hip-Hop & Empowering Youth” and attendance requires voter registration. At 9am, there will be a Pre-Summit Music/Video program. The Summit will begin at 11 am, with an interactive panel discussion where young people can ask questions to the participating artists speaking on youth leadership, taking responsibility, the importance of voter registration, the challenges of poverty, economic development, career choices & more.
