As of this week, Harlem rapper Vinny Cha$e and his Cheer$ Club label have found themselves a label home over at Epic Records, according to MTV News. Vinny revealed the news of his $2.5 million deal exclusively to MTV and also offered up his thoughts on Diddy, the city of Harlem, and more.

With Vinny Cha$e’s deep appreciation for his city of Harlem, it should come as no surprise that Hip Hop entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs is one of several artists the young spitter looks up to.

“I mean to me he’s an idol because like not only because of the stuff he did with Big is that he started in the game young just like us,” Vinny explained. “And a lot of people told him he couldn’t do this and he couldn’t do that…It’s like he made it through all of these things and it’s like through the whole way he kept reppin’ Harlem and he put Harlem in such a special place by putting other people like Mase on.”

Vinny also shared the details of one of his favorite “Puff memories,” which included the purchase of the rapper’s Puff Daddy & The Bad Boy Family album.

“The first CD I bought was Puff Daddy & The Bad Boy Family…It was like a sepia tone cover. That was my first joint. It’s funny to be dealing with dudes like that now. It’s pretty ill,” said the rapper.
