Oakland, California native GQ (a/k/a Quentin Thomas) is poised to release his debut EP later this month for a little March Madness. The University of North Carolina 2005 freshman NCAA champion will drop Death Threats & Love Notes: The Prelude via Jamla Records on March 26. The EP is a set-up for a forthcoming full-length of the same name expected later this year. This effort comes after an appearance on 9th Wonder’s 9th’s Opus compilation, and work on NBA Live ’10.

GQ, who has been an artist on 9th’s Jamla imprint since 2009, will work with Kurupt, Nipsey Hussle and label-mate Rapsody on the EP. Production will be handled by 9th and The Soul Council collective.

“He isn’t a basketball player that can rhyme; he is a rapper that can ball,” said 9th of the former Point Guard wearing #11 in a statement.
