On the strength of their “Saturday Night Live” performance, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis continue to post strong sales with their debut LP The Heist that’s a mere few weeks away from gold status. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar remains a steady seller with his major label debut good kid, m.A.A.d city, moving a hair more than last week and bumping up a few spots. A$AP Rocky slides down the chart with Long.Live.A$AP, while others – 2 Chainz, Game and Chief Keef – maintain their footing.
One of the few debuts on this week’s chart comes from Kutt Calhoun, whose latest album Black Gold manages to make a healthy entrance. The release marks the Strange Music rapper’s first LP since 2010’s Raw and Un-Kutt, and features a handful of emcees including Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko and Brotha Lynch Hung.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Soar With “The Heist”
It’s been almost six months since Macklemore and Ryan Lewis released their collaborative debut full-length The Heist, but they continue to push units. The duo, whose breakout hit “Thrift Shop” sat atop the charts for consecutive weeks, bumps back up the charts thanks to an appearance on this past weekend’s “Saturday Night Live.” After selling 22,000 units last week, the Seattle, Washington duo moves 42,000 copies, pushing it up from No. 16 to 4. The continued success is likely to maintain, as they’re yet to release the video for “Thrift Shop”‘s follow-up single “Can’t Hold Us.”
Kutt Calhoun Debuts Strong With “Black Gold”
Strange Music signee Kutt Calhoun had a nice debut on this week’s chart with his latest album Black Gold. The Kansas City, Missouri native bowed at No. 105 with 4,300 copies sold, enough to put him one notch ahead of Game’s Jesus Piece that sold 100 fewer units. The rapper’s fourth album, which follows 2010’s Raw and Un-Kutt, features guest appearances from some of his Strange Music crew including Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko and Brotha Lynch Hung, and touts production almost entirely from Seven – save for “It’s Goin’ Down,” helmed by Monsta Muzik.
