Snoop Lion has announced the release date and features for his upcoming album Reincarnated.
The artist formerly known as Snoop Dogg will drop his new LP, executive produced by Diplo and the Major Lazer team, on April 23rd via Berhane Sound System/Mad Decent/VICE Music/RCA Records.
The project will feature guest appearances from a crew of artists including Drake, Busta Rhymes, Chris Brown, T.I., Akon, Rita Ora, Angela Hunte, Popcaan, Mavado and more. The LP has already spawned the single “La, La, La” and will feature a guest appearance from Snoop’s daughter Cori B on the follow up single “No Guns Allowed.”
“We were searching for true reggae music and the message of peace and hope it reflects,” said Snoop in a press release. “It’s so much a part of who I am, and this record is all about paying homage and giving respect to those who created and love reggae music, and hopefully introducing it to a whole new audience. I feel truly honored to make this album and respect to all who blazed the path for me.”
Snoop Lion previously announced a name change from Snoop Dogg during a press conference about his documentary Reincarnated, hitting limited theaters on March 15. Bob Marley and the Wailers member Bunny Wailer recently criticized the film and questioned his religious conversion. Meanwhile, Marley’s son Rohan Marley took the opposite stance by defending Snoop.

UPDATE: Snoop Dogg took to Twitter to reveal the cover art for his upcoming album Reincarnated, releasing April 23rd.
Drake? Here comes So Icy Boi praising this album any time now.
gurrrrl, you know thats a VALid point!
This nigga done smoked himself retarded
This album’s wack. Where’s Lil Wayne, or Nicki?
oh I see, he didn’t find any reggae artist to be feature on.. hopefully he has friends.
Those features on a “reggae” album? they are what’s going to make this horrible. I praise Snoop, I think it’s good he’s realised his rap career has died and he’s trying something new… not too overjoyed about the media story for the change and all that reincarnation of Bob Marley shit but I quite like the name change and style change and I’ll be interested to see where this lands… but looking at the rap/rnb roster he’s got for features makes me think this is going to be a horrid knock off of that Nas + Damian Marley album.
You can’t put Drake on a reggae album, end of. Snoop just aint good enough to carry this album by himself but he could have at leasted looked into hooking up with reggae artists or something…..
As far as I can tell, this is going to be a harsh mix of hip hop style reggae influenced simple beats with dreadful simplistic hooks with lyrics about peace and joy and weed and such from Snoop with a few random verses and hooks about unrelated bullshit from the rest of the artists, maybe a few of them will try going deep and meaningful but I don’t see Drake or Chris Brown not mentioning clubs, money, girls and champagne or some shit like that which will sound more than ridiculous here.
I’m not looking forward to this, definitely wont buy it, but I’m curious to see if this will shock me, be decent or be more horrible than I predict.
Cosign that statement. If he wants to do a reggae album, he should keep it reggae and not pollute it with rap features. I can understand someone like Akon or Rihanna or even Bruno Mars because they have influences in reggae music but Drake and Chris Brown?
Now I could really give a flying fuck about Snoop features at this point. But cosign the dude below me…no Reggae features? Snoop couldn’t get Daminen Marley, Peter Tosh’s Nephew, smoebody?! But at the same time, I am as curious as anyone to hear how this mess is going to turn out.
You you heard about the new worldstar check hiphopmedialive.com
Popcaan and Mavado are reggae artists. And Akon would sound dope on a reggae track. This might be good. I’ll check it out when it comes out.
I don’t see why he couldn’t enlist some more of those great Jamaican artists
not one reggae artist listed as a feature.lol popcaan and mavado or dancehall artists
drake..chris brown.. smh
and any hype i had for this album has just vanished.

First Snoop album that I will not be buying. Its a damn shame cuz Snoop is one of my all-time favorite rappers, but everything I’ve heard so far as “Snoop Lion” has disappointed me.

i think this will be his last album
i hope its his 1st and last bullshit snoop lion album anyway
“we love snoop bec he bring that raw shit.”
Stuck-in-the-past ass nigga. This ain’t 1994, Snoop doesn’t make raw shit anymore. He’s already known for being a pop music sweetheart.
If he poked Katey Perry, he still the man.
Snoop Dogg had the balls to step out and make millions off of his talent. However, reggae is off his original brand. If it is positive then you can’t knock him for that. He is likely to switch back anyway, all that weed can turn you in to a bipolar rapper. #realtalk #dogsdon’tmorfintolions.
i had high hopes for this, then saw the tracklisting, sadly i’m no longer really thinking this will be anything special..
snoops gone gimmick (years ago)
What, you had hopes for this? You forgot that it’s a reggae album, NOT hiphop?
Hard to believe this is the same cat who made Gin and Juice.
i know its bullshit
i don’t see how its that big of a stretch, lol
i don’t see how its that big of a stretch, lol
snoop is not a rasta you idiot moron
stop embarrassing yourself and please go back to hip hop
Starting from ground zero…and going up.

I thought this was a hip hop site? And oh surprise surprise this nigga smokin weed on the cover….
Have some respect for one of the greatest artists of our generation. Sure he changed his style but what do you expect?? the man is not a 20 y/o gangbanger anymore. He has responsibilities and a family. Im enjoying the change and the music hes making through it. Take this song for example: http://smarturl.it/LighersUp
Thoughts on Snoop Lion’s first single, “Lighters Up” …?
