For the seventh annual year, Donuts Are Forever fundraiser will take place in Brooklyn, New York. Now a partnership between Okay Player and Rare Form, the annual scholarship of the same name encourages youth in inner-city music programs with an interest in pursuing deejaying and production as a career. Over seven years, Donuts has raised over $25,000, with all proceeds benefiting the Scholarship or previous non-profit partners, the Alliance for Lupus Research and the J Dilla Foundations future music education programs.

For 2013, producer/deejay Just Blaze has agreed to headline the February 17 event at Brooklyn’s SRB. Just will be joined by host Fresh Daily, as well as Shawn Dub, Tara, Center, Parler and Stylus. All deejays are reported to be playing J Dilla music throughout the evening. Previous headliners include ?uestlove.

J Dilla died on February 10, 2006 from compilications due to Lupus. Dilla and Just Blaze shared production credits on albums including Ghostface Killah’s Fishscale and Busta Rhymes’ Anarchy.

The charity and event takes its name from Dilla’s 2006 Stones Throw Records Instumental LP, Donuts.
