And so it goes…the brief changing of the guard on the Top Singles list. There are times throughout the year when we’ll get a few weeks worth of new music that leaves the Top Singles list in a total mixup, where newer artists get an opportunity to really shine. That’s not to say some old reliable acts don’t surface. It just means that newbies get a chance to show everyone what they have. This week we watch a seasoned rapper get his second wind, while a young buck takes a posse cut to new heights. Figure out who is who below.

Cassidy and Meek Mill Clearly Don’t Like Each Other

When Cassidy’s “The Diary Of a Hustla” arrived in November of last year, it was unclear what was really going on between the vet rapper and Meek Mill. “Me, Myself and iPhone” followed, just before Meek dropped “Repo” in return. Then some dude named “Chubby Jag” decided to help Cassidy out with “Worst Nightmare,” only to follow with another Meek Mill diss from Cassidy titled “Raid.” That one makes #1 this week. Meek hasn’t responded yet, but he did manage to show up at #2 on the Juelz Santana cut “Soft” with Rick Ross and Fabolous. This beef is really taking a while to settle.

Trinidad James Plays Doubles, Bringing T.I., 2 Chainz, and Young Jeezy Too

Trinidad James’ name circulated toward the end of last year, resulting in a Def Jam recording contract. The polarizing new rapper brielfy had the game in a head lock before settling into his newfound fame for a sec. He returns with more music, and it made an impact this week. At #6, TJ brought “All Gold Everything” with T.I., Young Jeezy, and 2 Chainz and returned to close the list out at #10 with “You a Problem.” While his career is fairly new, at the rate he’s cranking out music, he’ll be sure to show up on this list again soon.
