Yancey Media Group To Release Previously Unheard J Dilla Records This 2013

Earlier this years, fans got a chance to hear a host unreleased tracks from the late great J Dilla on the recent LPs Dillatroit and The Rebirth of Detroit. Now, just months after the albums’ respective releases, the deceased producer’s estate is preparing even more unheard material.

In a recent report from Pitchfork Media, news broke that Yancey Media Group and Delicious Vinyl were teaming up to release slew of new tracks from the Detroit legend, dubbed the “Lost Scrolls.” The first release coming this December will be the digital-only single “The Throwaway,” featuring Illa J and Yancey Media Group curator Frank Nitt.

Following “The Throwaway,” Yancey Media Group will kick off 2013 with a 10″ vinyl record featuring previously unheard production and rhyming from J Dilla. The label will also officially release the previously bootlegged Frank and Dank album 48 Hours, entirely produced by Dilla.

DX will keep you updated as more information on these releases come to light.

    1. i was like “this 2013?” likes its more than one comin soon. But Good shit because Dilla shit is always welcome.. One of the Greatest and Realest EVER PERIOD. im gon blaze up to donuts and take this trip real quick!!

    2. I hope they stick to rappers he actually worked with when he was living. That Rebirth album was weak sauce. Dillatroit had some bangers (the title track goes hard). The fans mostly wanna hear instrumentals, though. Lookin forward to hearing from my aqua brotha.

    3. I would honestly just prefer either the original tracks Dilla/rappers were already on, or just the instrumentals. I’m not really feeling all of the rappers that are featured on these “new” tracks. Unless it’s Nas, Jay Elec, Ghostface, or somebody like that, I really don’t want to hear rappers on Dilla beats for future releases. When is “Pay Jay” finally coming out? I’m still waiting for that “Pizza Man” beat tape PB Wolf was talking about too [allegedly, none of the beats were ever leaked]. I would buy the FnD “48 hours” though. That album has crazy beats on it. I just wonder which version will be released….the original version, or no-sample synth/808 version? I’d take both versions, just for the beats alone.
