Cash Money Records Sells 500 Million Singles Worldwide

As if having one of the most popular artist line-ups and long-standing labels in Hip Hop isn’t enough, it looks like the YMCMB family can add another title to its name. Now, in a recent press release, Cash Money has announced that it has officially sold over 500 million singles worldwide.

With a platinum-selling release from Nicki Minaj this year and multi-platinum LPs from Lil Wayne and Drake last year, YMCMB officially crossed the 500 million singles sold mark. Birdman spoke on the event, saying that while it’s an accomplishment for both him and his brother/co-own Ronald “Slim” Williams, they have no intention of stopping now.

“There is no more dynamic and prolific a label than Cash Money Records and the YMCMB family – point blank. We’re proud of every one of our artists and their contribution to our legacy,” he said. “What’s most humbling is the global reaction to our story. Slim and I built this label from the ground up and seeing our brand connect with people across borders, culture and language makes us appreciate every one of our fans worldwide. We can’t wait to deliver another 500 million bangers Success is something that Slim and I have always aimed for. It feels great to sell 500 million songs but fans should know, we aren’t going to stop now, and will continue our legacy.”

This isn’t the only record the New Orleans label has achieved in the past year. Back in September, Lil Wayne surpssed Elvis Presley’s record for most number of Billboard Top 100 hits.

      1. Yes I’ve read that, but that amounts to some petty royalties. Distribution takes up much of the profits, but CM have a pretty good deal cause they don’t have to risk too much with spending and marketing. In the end they’re tiny, and in a dying industry.

    1. that’s why I don’t use my hate on YMCMB specifically… I distribute my hate on the motherfckers out there bumping their shit thinking its cool.

niggas like Lil Wayne.. at the end of the day he’s smart af. he knows what the crowd likes. he knows what sells. it’s too bad people like stupid shit.

    2. That’s good news. It’s mad money in the music buisness. It’s more money else where tho. That’s the reason Jay is worth 450 and Diddy is worth 550. Not to mention Dre is worth like 270 now due to the headphone investment.

    3. I can’t hate. Even if I don’t agree with alot of shit that Cash Money, Young Money or Lil Wayne does, I can’t say they aren’t any success. Congrats to YMCMB.

    4. SINGLES, NOT ALBUMS….AND A BUNCH OF BULLSHIT BUBBLE GUM RAPPING NIGGAZ… STRAIGHT TRASH…..THAT WHOLE LABEL IS A BUNCH OF WHORES ON WAX…

    5. LMFAO NOW TELL ME WHICH LABEL CAN SAY THAT TOO? GOOD MUSIC? G UNIT? ROC NATION? ROC A FELLA? AFTERMATH? LMFAOOOO THIS MUST BE THE BEST ARTICLE ON DX SINCE WEEZY REACHED OVER A MILL FIRST WEEK. BITCH ALL U WANT BUT YMCMB IS ON TOP BY FAR

      1. yeah it’s cause their the white man’s rap. that’s why they sell so much and get pushed so hard on the radio. More like white little girl rap.. my 12 year old cousin Ashleys favourite rapper is lil wayne. she also went to justin bieber when he came to town. kinda of the same sort of thing

      2. fuck you for blaming lil wayne on white people thats not fair. can white n black come together and agree with wayne that hes an alien so none of us have to be responsible

      3. Talk all you want, Wayne is the shit, He is my, BOY, So Icy Boi! and YEBO’s master and if I had a choice I would group us all together and have a huge FUCK session imagine that platinum dick up my ass. SWAG

    8. I was 15 years old as a millionaire. Ive been rich since I was 14. My son has been a millionaire since he was 12, so thats just the life.

So where is all this street and gang shit coming from ? If they were really rich since their early teens they wouldve had NO TIME to be in any hood doing any dirt. lol like for real.

    9. this is a sad day for hiphop and the music industry in general. kids want music thats all ubout fun i guess, but when its constantly about money sex and being a blood then im out. i love hiphop just not this kind of hiphop. its destroying our youth. people have to wake up and not buy into this garbage

    10. im sure there are dozens of more prolific labels than cash money, young money and they dont put out disposable garbage

    11. Geffen record is way more prolific and dynamic

they had Elton John, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Nirvana, Cher, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Eagles, Aerosmith, Guns N Roses…
