Common has announced plans to release his upcoming tenth album in January 2013.

During an interview with MTV News to promote G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer, the Chicago, Illinois rapper revealed that he’s currently writing the LP. He also plans to hit the studio with frequent collaborator No I.D., and hopes that Kanye West will join the fold for the project.

“I am writing a new album. It will be coming out in January, and I’m looking forward to that,” he said. “My stuff will come at the top of the year maybe some songs out there on the street level, I’m going to work with No I.D. and looking to hopefully work with Kanye [West] and that’s some of the major people I’ll be working with, and whatever other great talents that I feel are going that direction that I want the album to be.”

Common most recently dropped his ninth album The Dreamer, The Believer in December 2011. The LP debuted at No. 17 on the charts with 69,000 copies sold.
