Game Says Kanye West Inspired Sound Of “Jesus Piece” Album

Compton rapper Game is gearing up to drop his newly-retitled fifth album titled Jesus Piece. Now, in a recent interview with Hot 93.7’s Jenny Boom Boom, the Interscope emcee explains the origins of the LP’s new title.

Game explained that title actually originated out of his recent baptism and his desire to be more of a family man. In terms of the music, however, he said that rapper/producer Kanye West inspired the album’s new sonic direction.

“I’m calling it Jesus Piece ’cause last year in August I got baptized and so I’ve been going to church, but I still been kinda doing me out here,” he said, “I still love the strip club and I still smoke and drink. I’m faithful to my family, so I wanted to make an album where you could love God and be of God, but still get it poppin’ in your life.”

He continued, “I called in Kanye and he gave me some ideas and we had done a song called ‘Jesus Piece’ on my original album and so once I switched the title, I just kept that song and ‘Celebration,’ and I then redid all the rest of the songs to fit the concept of Jesus Piece.”

    1. I like Game but I would like to hear a more West Coast sounding album from him. I get the feeling this is gonna be another MMG like compilation album with guests stars out the ass.

    2. “I still love the strip club and I still smoke and drink” LMAO fail, when you get baptized your “born again” your not suppose to be doing the things you use to do. all hes doing is wasting the churches time i assume he attends pentecostal church since he decided to be baptized. This guy is an idiot

    4. Im tired of hearing about game…this nigga change his mind every day about something. hypes up his albums just to disappoint

    5. What would the hip hop game be if Game didn’t say shit that makes absolutely no sense?

Like yo, I like God, I mean I still want to party and fuck hoes, but Im still real committed to living righteous, I just dont want to stop pretending gangsta.

    6. remember when he said that his next album wouldn’t have any features? he tweeted a day or two ago how someone else was on a song with him and Rihanna from his new album. Also, I’m confused as fuck, so this Kanye feature is old or something?

      1. yo so icy boii do you ever not come on this website and comment on ever article? get a job or a life maybe a girlfriend be prodcutive and stop being so childish

      1. He hasn’t been on a high since Doctor’s Advocate. And if he did go to YMCMB, he’ll be a much a priority as Bow Wow.

    7. “for big features. truly scared of flopping”

Having other artists on your album is no different than co-stars in a movie. It’s necessary.

      1. No it is more like stuffing a movie full of cameos. Most of the time it’s distracting or used for shock value. If the cameo is a selling point for the movie, then it’s a shit movie. Same goes for guests on an album.

    8. kid going by the name game haha get a life do something productive with your life instead of mocking rappers on a hip hop website for laughs and giggles and for sure at this rate game is going to sign with G.O.O.D Music over GAYMCMB

    9. FLOP. He probably apoloigized to Hov like a million times. Ye wouldn’t be fuckin with game if Hov had a problem with it

    10. i dont think this will be nothing. he aint been shit since his first two album.

i dont blame him for trying though the same old game shit is getting played out.

    11. Pleeeeeease dont start all this religious shit on your album Game. Keep that bullshit in your personal life, dont put it on wax.

    12. I dont know whats wrong with yall haters ! Seriously ! Once a new rapper is reachin the top of the chart, everybody is behind his ass, tryna get his album or autograph.. Thats what happened with The Documentary.. Now Game is still doing a good job, trying to do what haters shouldnt hate but … Wtf is wrong with you guys ?

      1. Trendy fans. Always been that way.

However Game has a shtick that people have been tired of. He carries himself in a way thats not convincing either and im not talking about his gangsta image. He just moves like a attention craving media whore. Other than that hes not really that talented as an MC.

    13. “If the cameo is a selling point for the movie, then it’s a bad movie”

Slow down Spielberg before you hurt yourself. Cameos in movies have been drawing people in for years. Same with music. Why listen to just one rapper when you can listen to a handful who you might not have heard before? It’s so shockingly logical.

    14. Again Game changing the name and lack features of his upcoming album, I would have like to hear what Mars music would have sounded if he produced the whole album with no features.

    15. “I don’t want to hear X’s prayers either.”

^ hey, I read that thread. You were taken to task and responded with nothing articulate or resonating concerning God.

Now before you respond, I would like to warn you that I am neither young, naive, poor, uneducated, or foolish and are well versed with the teachings.
