Despite the delay of some albums, this coming week in September is the week a lot of Hip Hop is waiting for. The Fall album releases will be in full swing, and before they even drop, the leaked songs begin. True fans always support the projects when they drop anyway (right?…right?) so some teasers for these projects can’t hurt. They definitely helped the singles list this week, as some new tracks did come on, older songs fell off, and of course some surprises happened along the way. Check it out.
The Clique Wins, Pink Comes a Close Second
People had their doubts that G.O.O.D. Music’sCruel Summer was going to meet its release date. Well, fear not, because it looks like it’s actually arriving this Tuesday, Septembr 18th. Most people have heard it by now (damn leaking gods) and decided on their favorite tracks. The fan favorite this week (again) was “Clique.”Kanye, Jay-Z and Big Sean all brought their A-game to the table on this new cut off the new album. Apparently, everyone hit repeat on the track, because it was #1 for the second week in a row. At #2 was Pink’s Eminem-assisted “Here Comes the Weekend.” Here comes the weekend indeed, and typically anything with Eminem tacked on makes quite an impact.
A DMX Meltdown Goes a Long Way, Kay Slay Features Black Hippy
Oh, DMX. We love you, flaws and all. With the videos currently circulating of Dark Man X having mini meltdowns on camera, this “Frankenstein” track at #5 couldn’t have come at a perfect time. Just ahead of it though at #4 was DJ Kay Slay’s “Highway To Hell.” Kay Slay got almost all of Black Hippy, as the track features Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Jay Rock. Where Ab-Soul ran off to, we don’t know. Shouts to the repeat winners this week (outside of “Clique”). Kendrick Lamar’s “Westside, Right On Time” with Young Jeezy returned and hit the #6 spot, as Game’s “Celebration” with everyone made it to #8 and Slaughterhouse’s title track “Our House” arrived at #9.
