MC Eiht Plans On Sending Cease And Desist Letter To Olympic Gold Medalist Ryan Lochte

MC Eiht’s beef with DJ Quik was one of Hip Hop’s most storied rivalries. But even Eiht could not have predicted that he would one day be beefing with an Olympic Gold Medalist.

TMZ reports that MC Eiht has taken issue with United States Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, over the latter’s attempt to trademark the phrase “jeah.”

“Why try and trademark something his ass didn’t even create? I am mad that he isn’t giving me proper recognition for taking my saying,” explained the West Coast veteran. “He is just disrespectful.”

Adding that his concern is about “respect and truth,” and not about money, Eiht revealed that he plans on sending a cease and desist letter to Lochte.

Lochte claims that he created the term by deriving it from Young Jeezy’s use of “chea,” and states that his phrase means something “good.”

Lochte’s manager tells TMZ, “Ryan has beeen using JEAH for years…This is the first time I have heard of this claim by MC Eiht.”

    1. Really? Lose all relevance, and go after someone in the news, over a word… That isn’t even a word.

      Makes sense.

    2. “JEAH”= EIHT HYPES WORD!
YO EIHT A HUSSLA…HE AINT BROKE!
JUST KEEPIN HIS NAME OUT THERE…LOOK 4 THA NEW RELEASE: “JEAH…FUCK THA GOLD” 2012 LOL!

      1. Why dont you quit with your nicca/bitch fake tough guy routine and get back to chomping on dicks fucko. Eat one!

    3. Eiht is lookin very depressive on that picture. Probably he is broke and has no record deal because he is not relevant anymore and 45 years old and still talking about selling coke. lol rappers are really idiots today

      1. I don’t think he’s depressive, he’s rich. Bu no doubt he’s the most irrelevant nigga ever.

      1. this whole story is wack and hip hop is just wack as fuck now ..I used to love the shit but now it turned into a bunch of weirdos and followers.mc eiht is og cali dude but a swimmer saying this shit its just out of control im almost ready tossay fuck this music its wack anymore.

    4. In other news, Master-P is suing a man who had a stomach ache and muttered the sound “Uuugghhhh”. He claims he originated the sound and the man is clearly biting off his brilliant vernacular.

    5. Newsflash MC Eight. Lochte has no idea who you even are, and thus could care less if you got offended because he’s using a random word you use in some garbage songs.

    6. Its not about money or staying relevant! Its simply about “NO I’M NOT GOING TO LET YOU TAKE CREDIT & SAY YOU CREATED A WORD THAT YOU CLEARLY DID NOT, TRY TO TRADEMARK IT & MAKE IT A PART OF YOUR LEGEND/LEGACY WHEN I CLEARLY WAS A WELL KNOWN NOTED PERSON USING THIS WORD BEFORE ANYONE EVEN KNEW WHO YOU WERE” Thats whats this is about, NOT money. Lame niggas & bitches are the ones who think some shit is about money every time an older rapper steps forth with a legal issue, why can’t it simply be about respecting a persons legacy and what they contributed to this world. Imagine you have a saying, or you popularize a term/phrase from your area & then 19 years later a person comes along saying “I started this or I’ve been saying this for years, this is my phrase”! You’d look at them like they we’re fucking idiots! Peace!

      1. you are a dumass!

What grown adult is goin to seek media attention for a word?????? Nobody is checkin for Eihts music and then he starts bitching that he invented the word “JEAH” thats pathetic

      2. What grown adult is goin to seek media attention for a word??????

    7. ok to all you dumbasses eiht isn’t sueing that thug wanna be because he is using the word jeah he’s trying to stop him from trademarkting it cuz it ain’t his

    8. OK this is the thing. MC Eiht was saying “Jeah” so long ago that so many other people have been saying it and I’m pretty sure Ryan Lochte has absolutely no idea who originated it. Maybe his favorite rapper from 3 years ago was saying it and that’s where he picked it up. MC Eiht was hot, what, 19 years ago? Come on, man.

      1. Little kid, Eiht was saying CHEA. Jeezy says YEEAAHH, this wanna be is using Ebonic JEAH. Time only matters to a uninformed peon.

If he used Diddy’s “take dat, take dat” would you still be whining about how long ago it was?

      2. ^^

Nobody is whining and no one even brought Jeezy up. Nothing I said is OPINION. It’s all fact.

Maybe YOU don’t like it. OH WELL.

This story is not even worth discussing because you ain’t command someone to stop doing something that you don’t own the rights to.

    9. Eight been saying this for the longest time he should have been trademarked it. Now i fear he may just lose because of who he is going against.

    10. You don’t get any money sending a cease and desist idiots. “Straight Up Menace” from the Menace II Society movie soundtrack was a major hit, so your “garbage song” holds no weight here little boys.

IMO Ryan should be standing on the merits of his Olympic performance instead of jacking rap slang, in Ebonics form at that, for a profit.

      1. He wasn’t that great in the Olympics though (and straight up lost us at least one gold medal in that team relay) so he’s gotta do this dumbass wigster shit to get paid

    11. “Its simply about “NO I’M NOT GOING TO LET YOU TAKE CREDIT & SAY YOU CREATED A WORD THAT YOU CLEARLY DID NOT, TRY TO TRADEMARK IT & MAKE IT A PART OF YOUR LEGEND/LEGACY WHEN I CLEARLY WAS A WELL KNOWN NOTED PERSON USING THIS WORD BEFORE ANYONE EVEN KNEW WHO YOU WERE” Thats whats this is about”

      ^ this

Look at the assimilated, mindless sheep ALREADY using “JEAH” in it’s spelling. You can’t make this up, how much of a follower they really are.

    12. “Straight Up Menace” from the Menace II Society movie soundtrack was a major hit”

That was way back in 1993. Update your IPOD pal.

      1. LOL @ THIS CLOWN

THE COMMENT SAYS “WAS” & SO WHAT IT WAS ’93

ELVIS’ HITS WERE YEARS AGO & U WERE TAKING UP FOR HIM

      2. who gives a fuck if the song is from 93. i got music from 98 dated all the way back to the 50’s nigga. you know why? because its music with quality not all this bullshit editing, autotune fake bullshit they use these days. its not your fault you aint got no taste in music

    13. THEY CRYING “EIHT ACTING LIKE HE INVENTED THE WORD”

WHAT THE FCUK IS LOCHTE DOING? COINING A SLOGAN, TRADEMARKING IT, GIVING IT A MEANING WITH A SPECIFIC SPELLING!

WHO KNEW WHO A RYAN LOCHTE WAS 3 YEARS AGO TO NOW? U FOLLOW SWIMMING? WHERE R THE ANNUAL MEETS @? ESPN, ABC, FOX, TBS DON’T EVEN FCUK WITH SWIMMING LIKE THAT. PHELPS? YEP. LOCHTE?

    14. Eiht is irrelevant. ROss is. Hip hop is all about relevancy, therfore i strongly suggest you to cop that new Ross album.

      1. I love his new CD, “God Forgives, Why Don’t Y’all?!”. All the C.O.s bump it when theres a prison riot.

    15. “ELVIS’ HITS WERE YEARS AGO”

The debate wasn’t about Elvis. In rap years, 1993 is ancient. Plus, who bumps the Menance soundtrack today? You? lol

      1. IF ’93 IS ANCIENT U MUST OF BEEN BORN IN THE 00’S

IF U WERE BORN IN THE 80’S U JUST CALLED YOURSELF ANCIENT!

        LMMFAO

        LOL

    16. I’m with mc eiht yo…he been saying jeah since I was a fucking teenager..I’m 31 now. I never heard nobody say that shit before mc eiht..I’d be pissed too how the fuck can he trademark that lol wtf?

    17. I don’t know how this swimmer dude isn’t au fait with Eiht’s work. One Time Gaffled ‘Em Up and Drive-by Miss Daisy were two of my favourite CMW joints back in the days. Menace is also a hood classic and obligatory B-Boy viewin’. Can’t take anyone serious who claims to be a rap fan but has never heard of Compton’s Most Wanted.

    19. Dam all these years and he never had that trademarked. That was his signature tag saying, he should have been done did that. You no how they steal everything that’s known to blacks and try and make it their own. Everybody from the west to the east no and even Freeway from philly gave him his P’s on that. Gotta do do that off top look at Anthony Davis NBA draft #1 pick trademarked his unibrow.

      1. He don’t need to copyright the “phrase”, his music is copywritten. If he has 1 song title in his catalog that relates to the term jeah or if its spelled out within the context of his lyrics and if its copyright is enlisted before any other reference point in history to the word jeah, his argument is undeniable and in the court of law he holds certification of origin.

    20. you can’t claim shit you ain’t make jeah my ass fuck mc eiht (left the “G” out your name cause the g aint in you) he broke so now you trying to get paid of some non existing word fag nigga

    21. @LOVELIFE&MUSIC Nigga, he did use the word in his songs for years. YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well over 20. DO YOUR HOME WORD AND RESEARCH BEFORE TRADEMARKING HIP HOP SLANG!!!!!!

    22. well we are in the era where people like Paris Hilton have a trademark on a short phrase such as “thats hot” …..so this is no surprise.

    23. Ok let’s put this into perspective, first you shouldn’t be allowed to trademark sayings, second Ryan Lochte did not come up with “jeah” and third most likely neither did MC Eiht. But if you can’t trace back any further than at least give the man some credit, I completely understand MC Eiht is saying that cause he wants respect which none of the older rappers get now and it’s more of a problem inside the hip hop genre because everyone acts like they’re the first to do anything when in reality it happened many times years ago.

    24. Ask your P/O to teach you how to spell

    25. Come on, stop with this RESPECT THE OLD SCHOOL shit. I love old school and most importantly, I DO KNOW old school, but can’t stand these old rappers demanding respect in any possible situation. They always complain about their position in the rap game nowadays, they cry that they do not get as much as they used to, they sue young up-and-coming rappers over follow-ups… get to work and stop living off of the past fame, buffoons!

      1. Son you stupid what do anything you just said have to do with Eiht saying stop trying to make money off of what i already created, You’ll acting like Mc Eiht was saying Jeah form day one, like he just start saying it 2month ago. the nigga is right on this one man

      1. You stupid son, if someone try to take what you created and make money off that with out asking or putting the credit where it come from, you be made too, Mc Eiht been saying jeah before this white boy was born, that fool got no right too it

    26. This generation is completely lame and pathetic. The most switch side fence sitting muhfuckas ever. You bitches take the side of some random white athlete over the side of a legendary hip hop artist. You dudes better learn the meaning of loyalty.Hip Hop music is supposed to be this thing of OURS.You ignorant assholes let white corporate america steal everything thats urban and cultural to our music and then praise them for it.Get it together youngins’.

      1. Dats wassup, real recognize real! preaCh on G. Youngins C runnin round aCCing like some st8 up hoez! OG’s gotta smash on ’em for dat disrespeCt. Much Luv!

      3. and now you see…don’t know how you missed it when someone else is getting exposed for being a closet racist on this very page….

      1. He got you dude, your comebacks all have racial undertones. I would like to ask, how did you come to the conclusion that he’s an ex-con w/o a job?

    27. “Lochte claims that he created the term by deriving it from Young Jeezy’s use of “chea,”

huh? Mc Eiht has been saying “jeah” since 1993.

    28. Ya’ll need ta stop aCCing like BkiatChes.
I ain’t even a Eiht fan, but dude been paid dues. He done messed ’round and created that muffuCCin word! All ya on some bKitCh movement, respect da real OG. WEST SIDE 4 LIFE, Get wit it!

    29. Ryan Lochte is a fucking retard! Watch any youtube video of his interviews! Let the retard use his made up word

    30. Mc Eiht is old, and irrelevant. This is what makes hip hop pathetic and stupid, some cat that cant even rap no more sitting around looking to beat fathertime. Of course this is America where everybody wants to sue to ease their bruised ego. Only thing popping on the west is nip hussle and kdot so stfu Mc Eiht, Jeahhhhh
