He’s been selected for Sundance and he’s run for mayor, but for the past three years, Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell has been working as an assistant high school football coach. Now, the 2 Live Crew frontman has been officially certified a head football coach.
According to AllHipHop, Luke won a battle with the Florida Department of Education to become certified as a head coach. The DOE had previously withheld his status as a head coach because of 2 Live’s notoriously raunchy lyrics, saying that he lacked “good moral character.”
In a turn this past Friday, an administrative judge in Tallahassee certified the rapper as a head coach provided he meet a series of conditions. Luke must pass ethics classes, prove that he has paid all of his child support payments and warn the judge up to 30 days in a advance when he plans to perform any sexually explicit material.
As previously mentioned, Uncle Luke has been an assistant football coach for four seasons at two different high schools in the Liberty City area. He has also been heading a Pop Warner league in Liberty City for nearly 25 years.
