Compton, California’s Kendrick Lamar is set to be a part of Philadelphia’s Global Fusion Festival. The emcee will join acts like Brandy, Kenny Lattimore and Luke James on the bill. The festival will take place this Saturday (July 21) at Penn’s Landing for free. The event is put together by the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation.

Dallas, Texas’ Tum Tum is also being added to a bill, this one in his home state. On August 8, 2012, Tum Tum will join Three 6 Mafia’s Juicy J for a portion of the Smokers Club Tour. Smoke DZA and Chevy Woods are also expected to be featured on the tour. Tum Tum’s next release, Eat or Get Ate 2, will be out in the fall and it will feature appearances by Freddi Gibbs and Curren$y. “I’m putting my all in this album,” he recently explained in a statement. “I’ve got the new single buzzing, and this is all from focused, independent hustle. It’s hard times for most people right now – we all have to work harder than before, and I think people will respect where I’m coming from.”

In other news, Mr. Complex and D-Stroy are working on a film and are asking for support via Kickstarter. Their film, The Funny Thing About Making Sex, is set to feature The Roots’ Black Thought and Jean Grae. “Our generation has a limited scope and range in its depictions of love,” D-Stroy explained in a statement. “As a fan of Hip Hop culture, I couldn’t relate to most of the ‘Urban’ characters I seen in Film, I was disheartened. I didn’t see myself or a person like me being represented. Having spent most of my life in the entertainment business, I wanted to explore characters and storylines that moved beyond stereotypes and one-dimensionality.” Donations can be made to their Kickstarter page.

Finally, Stockton, California’s Okwerdz has teamed up with San Jose, California’s Dirtbag Dan. Together, the two released “Hate Me Cuz I’m Great” this week. In an exclusive statement to HipHopDX, Okwerdz explained that the clip was unveiled as a gift for fans. “Basically, while we’re working on our own respective albums, we always like to keep putting out content for the fans,” he shared. “We did this video 100% just to have some visuals to go with the free mp3.” According to Okwerdz, he has a new album coming “in a couple months,” a collaborative project with Young Collage titled With or Without You. Their project will include guest spots from various artists including E-40.
