On July 17, DD172/BluRoc Records will release the studio debut from singer/songwriter and DXnext alum McKenzie Eddy, Slow Your Horse Down, Son. The EMI-distributed work will feature emcees such as Cam’ron, Murs, Vado, GLC, Da$h, and label-mate Sean O’Connell. Eddy, a vocalist and executive has previously released free projects such as Young Platinum and A Prelude To My Next Excursion, in addition to appearing on Curren$y’s Pilot Talk II.
“Before McKenzie [Eddy], I’ve never come across a person who had the ability to put me on to so many cool things,” said Damon “Dame” Dash in a statement. He claims to have formed the BlakRoc / Black Keys project on McKenzie’s initial idea. “She has the ability to take care of other people, aside from herself – and the skill to be artistic. She’s had so many different experiences from Hip Hop to Rock. I was inspired to be a part of this record musically, something I haven’t done in a while.”
McKenzie added, “This music is special because of the people who had their hands in creating it. These artists have given me ground to stand on – it’s not something I take lightly. I’m sharing my scars and flaws. I’m not Auto-tuned. They taught me to embrace the real shit.”
