This past May, Ludacris unveiled the first single “Jingalin'” to his upcoming eighth studio album Ludaversal. Now, in a recent interview with Billboard, the Atlanta mainstay discussed the LL Cool J-sampling concept being the hit record.

According to the DTP impresario, he wanted to give Cool James’s 1990 single “Jingling Baby” off his third LP Walk With a Panther a modern era remake. He even added that he took the sample used in the single to LL himself, who personally blessed its use.

“That historic song, ‘Jingaling Baby,’ we re-done that thing in a whole, all new 2012 type of vibe,” he said. “I took the sample straight to him [LL Cool J]. He loved it. He said, ‘Go ahead, live. Make sure you get your money.'”

Luda also discussed his recent track “All Around the World” with frequent collaborator Justin Bieber. He explained that the song marks a new, more mature development in Bieber’s music, which he feels is a promising sign for the singer’s career.

“We’re here to make history again with a new song, ‘All Around the World,’ that’s on Justin Bieber’s new album,” he said. “He’s getting older, he’s’ growing into manhood stage and his songs are reflecting that, so it’s a good thing.”
