With the Grammy Awards performance on Sunday night and digital music sales available, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj saw chart support of their 2010 albums. West, who did not attend the awards, won four trophies, three of which were for his acclaimed last solo album. Minaj did not win, but performed during the awards. The lone 2012 Rap release on the charts remained Yo Gotti‘s major label debut, Live From The Kitchen (#145).
Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV To Reach Double Platinum In Next Week
As forecast last week, Lil Wayne is on the verge of potentially scoring more multi-platinum honors with his latest work. 2011’s Tha Carter IV, which features the likes of Nas, Tech N9ne and Andre 3000, is less than 3,000 units away from reaching this feat.
Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Honored, Sales Up
HipHopDX’s 2010 Album Of The Year, Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy climbed over 81 spots to re-enter the charts. Winner of the Grammy Award for “Best Rap Album,” containing “Best Rap Song” and “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration” in “All Of The Lights” over doubled its previous week sales. The Def Jam Records release features appearances by Watch The Throne collaborator Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon, among others.
