For a few months back in 2011, we had a period of time where the same two people kept popping up on our Top Singles charts. We won’t name any names, but out of ten songs, there was a time when more than half of those songs came from only one artist. As 2012 starts, we’re noticing that is no longer the case, and it’s refreshing. New school, old school, what difference does it make? Everyone is showing up to the party in 2K12. This week saw some repeats, but in all, it’s about that new. Look it over, find your favorites, and press play.

Joe Budden Watches His Throne, Game Plays Doubles

It’s been a while since we’ve had a good freestyle hit the top of the charts, but Joe Budden did it. The Jersey Mouse Budden topped the charts with his take on the Watch the Throne beat for “No Church In the Wild.” Joe delivered as usual, and while many have tried to approach this beat with grace, he did a bang up job. Don’t forget to mark your calendars for February 21st, because Budden drops the Mood Muzik Box Set, a must have for any Joey B fan. So yes, Joe Budden marked #1. John Legend hit up the #2 spot with the Ludacris added “Tonight (Best You Ever Had).” At #3 was Game’s“Take It Off.” Game goes a second round at #4 with Soulja Boy’s“Too Faded.” Then at #5 was a repeat – that being T.I. and Dr. Dre’s “Popped Off,” while another repeat followed, Common’s Drake diss aka “Stay Schemin.”

Ed Sheeran Jumps Across The Pond, Stalley Jumps On The List

Last week’s #1 track dropped to #7 – K’Naan and Nas’ “Nothing To Lose. “Nas also closed the list at #10 with Rick Ross on “Triple Beam Dreams.” The two in-between tracks proved to be interesting this week. UK singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran entered the list at #8 with the Yelawolf assisted “You Don’t Know (For F*ck’s Sake).” Ed Sheeran has been a dominant force in the UK music scene since last year, and now he gets a shot across the pond by bringing Yelawolf along for the ride. By the way, Yelawolf will be dropping a deluxe edition of Radioactive with bonus cuts on February 20th. There will be no Ed Sheeran on that though. At #9 Stalley joined the conversation with the DJ Khaled track “City Of 30,000 Wolves.” Something tells us this won’t be the last time we’ll see this song on our list.
