LL Cool J To Host The 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards

Two-time winner LL Cool J has been tapped to host the 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards, making it the first time in seven years that the Academy has enlisted a host.

“I’m thrilled to be part of Music’s Biggest Night,” said LL. “I will always have fond memories of my first GRAMMY Awards and to now be hosting the GRAMMY show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true. Great performances and great music — it’s gonna be a great night!”

LL has hosted “The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!! — Countdown To Music’s Biggest Night” since it began in December 2008. He has been nominated nine times, and won in the Best Rap Solo Performance category in 1992 and 1997 for “Mama Said Knock You Out” and “Hey Lover,” respectively.

The event will take place on February 12th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and will be aired on CBS from 8-11:30 p.m.

    1. Amazing! On another note Admiral Crumple’s Dark Sentences drops April 10, 2012! Dark and hardcore hip hop! Search Admiral Crumple on youtube!

    2. This is a wishy washy unimportant event that artists shouldnt guage their career achievements with.

LL cool J was an icon in hip hop , but to keep it real his craft never progressed. Jay-z is the true greatest rapper of all time. Grammy’s are lame. open the flood gates for all the white artists to win, “well LL hosted it “

      1. you guys sound retarded with that shit… white people haven’t blinded out the show in years… soundin like Kanye behind the grammy curtains or some shit.

for God’s sake, a black chick beat Justin Bieber and Drake last yeat.. wake the fuck up

      1. Nah, I remember Esperanza Spalding beat Justin Beiber and Drake last year, two of the biggest overrated and untalented artists ever. Most of the time the winner is based off of who does the best commercially, but some times they do pick actual musicians with talent.

      2. it’s so pathological how you word that out “they don’t choose the best albums, they choose the highest selling”

“they don’t choose the best albums”

“best albums” is subjective to you. you’re probably reppin dudes like Kendrick Lamar or The Roots but not only do people barely know who the fuck they are but most of the niggas repped on here are choosing to stay independent.

and yeah, despite YMCMB’s success, they haven’t won all that many grammys in total yet. Wayne was always gonna get a Grammy with C3, that album was hyped like I couldn’t believe. other than that, it’s not always about record sales and shit, it represents which ones made an impact throughout the year

      3. There is so much u can talk about from the Grammy’s as a whole regarding hip-hop.(A hip-hop artist will almost never win albulm of the year.) But to keep it hip-hop let’s look at the nominees:
best albulm(WTT,Pink Friday,Lasers,C4,MBDTF)-(elgibility is from Sept ’10-Sept 30 ‘011) So ur telling me Pink Friday, Lasers and C4 were some of the best albulms to drop during that period? Sales has to play a huge factor..I say all nominees have to have critical acclaim. Sect.80 (though I wasnt a big fan of it) received critical acclaim from jus about everywhere. Y isnt it nominated? Cole World:sideline story had pretty well sales and mostly positive reviews, Y isnt it nominated?..I get that music is all about opinion anyways but let’s factor in not just sales but actual critical acclaim also.

      4. how much is ‘everywhere’ though? if just 1000 people are reppin an album as solid while another album is mixed but goes 2x platinum, then they will by all means nominate the latter. sales play a big part, but not the crucial part in winning one.

yeah reviews for Section80 are almost unanimous, but how many people are talkin about it though. how much did it SELL. there’s about a dozen underground works that get heavy rep every year
