As the holiday season continues, it seems like rappers still aren’t taking any days off. Over the past few weeks we’ve been blessed with some mixtapes that we never expected to actually happen. Still there are several tapes we’ve been waiting forever for. However, as our announcements come this week, we learn that some of these tapes will actually become a reality…even before the New Year.
A whole lot happened last week. Tyga dropped his new mixtape “#B*TCHIMTHESH*T.” While this month was supposed to mark the release of Tyga’s album, he slapped this mix together, and no one seems to mind. The Young Money affiliate brought some new music, though it wasn’t the music we were planning on. Peedi Crakk brought “Crakk Files 4” and with it some cameos from artists like N.O.R.E. on the Nursery Rhyme “Mary Makk.” Ace Hood also delivered “The Statement 2,” which over the past month or so has had several leaks, most recently the Busta Rhymes and Yelawolf-assisted “Sh*t Done Got Real.” Of course, we can’t forget Mr. 50 Cent. Fif dropped “The Big 10” on Friday, and had quite the social networking campaign going on. The mixtape was originally only released via Facebook, with tracks limited until a certain number of users “liked” the mixtape. Pretty sneaky, Curtis. Finally, Kanye’s old friend GLC arrived with “Eternal Sunshine of the Pimpin Mind.”
Speaking of old friends of Kanye…Consequence has finally announced a date for “Curb Certified.” Cons revealed that the date will be December 14th, and to celebrate that he dropped a new track “Red Bottom Rap.” It’s clear that Consequence is on his grind; he last dropped “Movies On Demand 3” back in August. Before Cons gets “Curb Certified,” Waka Flocka Flame and French Montana get the “Lockout.” That one is scheduled to release today. Check your watches for when it does.
Jahlil Beats has definitely been working overtime in 2011. The Roc Nation signee just showed up on 50’s mix with “Put Your Hands Up,” and before that was on Red Cafe and Diddy’s “Let It Go” among many others. On Christmas Day (December 25th), the producer will roll out the red & green carpet for “Crack Music 5.” Add that to Christmas’ rotation with Raekwon’s “UnExpected Victory” and Omen’s “Black Hero Theme Muzik.” Five days prior, the artist formerly known as Bobby Valentino will drop “Vitamin V.” R&B artists have been going hard in the mixtape scene, and now Bobby V adds to that movement.

Last, but certainly not least, expect Fabolous’ “There Is No Competition 3: Death Comes In 3s” in the very near future. No solid date has been confirmed, but artwork has been revealed. In the unexpected release schedule of the mixtape world, this one can come at any moment.
