Jewell Alleges That Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s “Foe Tha Love Of $” Was A Re-Used Song

R&B songstress Jewell, known for decades of work, including featured roles with N.W.A., Dr. Dre and 2Pac recently provided insight to one of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony‘s earliest hits. Jewell, who had worked on various Ruthless Records projects after meeting Dr. Dre in the alte 1980s, recently told DubCNN.com about “Foe Tha Love Of $.”

The song eventually appeared on BTNH’s debut EP, Creepin On Ah Comeup. However, Jewell claimed that Eazy E, Bone Thugs’ mentor, originally had recorded the song several years earlier Yomo & Maulkie. “I had been at the studio almost every day listening, recording, and hanging out with Ice Cube and MC Ren as they were putting the Efil4zaggin project together,” recalled Jewell of her Ruthless days. “I did the song for Eazy-E and Yomo & Maulkie,’For The Love of Money.’ For whatever reason, Eazy never put that particular song out until years later when he signed Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. What they did was take the rappers [Yomo & Maulkie], but they kept my voice and used the song as it was.”

Yomo & Maulkie released one album, 1991’s Are U Xperienced, on Ruthless. The song, as “For The Love Of Money,” was included, along with Jewell’s vocals.

Jewell’s self-titled album releases this week.

      1. Seriously, who the fuck is in charge of editing for this site? It’s bad enough when a good percentage of the articles have typos, but putting Eazy R in a headline is just egregious.

      2. lol nobody can afford editors any more…but apparently they are also too lazy to go through and say what they wrote out loud real quick to make sure it flows before hitting submit…but i guess thats way too hard…or something

    1. Sorry guys, for the spelling mistake. If eazy R was important like say drake I would have spelled it correct. Thank you

    2. “I had been at the studio almost every day listening, recording, and hanging out with Ice Cube and MC Ren as they were putting the Efil4zaggin project together”

Not that it really matters, but Ice cube was a long ways away from NWA when they were working on efil4zaggin. Shit he was gone before 100 miles n runnin

      1. SO WHAT HE WAS GONE, IT’S EASY TO DELETE A VERSE. I WOULD BELIEVE HER BEFORE I WOULD BELIEVE YOUR SPECULATION, SHE WAS THERE.

      2. it has nothing to do with deleting a verse. what this guy is saying is that it’s doubtful that she would be hanging out with cube and ren while they were Efil4zaggin together, because cube wasn’t involved in that project. they’d already been beefing for at least a year at that point

      3. THEM BEEFING DOESN’T MEAN THERE WEREN’T DONE SONGS THAT HAD HIM ON IT AND NEEDED TO BE RE-DONE. THEM TRACKS COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN THE ONES THAT DIDN’T MAKE THE FIRST ALBUM. THE ONLY REASON YOU’RE SAYING HE WASN’T INVOLVED IS BECAUSE YOU DIDN’T HEAR HIM ON IT. SHE WAS THERE.

    3. WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!

BONES VERSION WAS WAY BETTER. THIS ARTICLE IS IRRELEVENT… WHY AM I TYPING IN ALL CAPS??!!!

      WHO CARES!!!! lmao

    4. That girl Tasha from “The Thuggish Ruggish Bone” song is the only singer remembered from Bone’s debut album, so who cares about you Jewell lol.

    5. Lol anybody else notice the text at the bottom?
“Jewells self titled album releases this week”
      Bitch just wants some publicity

    6. Pretty pathetic article. It’s not an allegation, it’s true, proven, old news. Yomo & Maulkie’s album came out in 1991 and BTNH’s came out in ’94 – the ’91 album was first?!?!? FUCK!!!

      1. ok, they was first and so what. i see they didn’t do anything after that and bone had many more hit records than that lil colab.

    7. This is old news. I been knowing this for hella. I knew this when the song first came out. My brother had the Yomo and Maulkie tape back in the day so I knew where Bone got the beat from.

    8. this is not news…yomo and maulkie had a terrible album..the best part of that album was the foe tha luv of money instrumental…it was so dope eazy had to re-twist it
