Tyler, The Creator Announces New Album “Wolf” For May 2012

Spin Magazine recently caught up with Tyler, the Creator and his Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All partners after filming of the collective’s impending Adult Swim series “Loiter Squad” wrapped. During the interview, Spin got the skinny on Tyler’s second commercial effort Wolf and what fans can expect from the California rapper/producer’s next project.

According to the Golf Wang head honcho, Wolf is slated for a May 2012 release via Odd Future’s Sony RED-distributed imprint. In a departure from his previous work, however, Tyler says that fans can expect less talk about rape and murder in his lyrics. He’s says that now that OFWGKTA’s blown up on such a major scale, he’s less interested in the macabre topics he rapped about on Bastard and this past year’s Goblin.

“Talking about rape and cutting bodies up, it just doesn’t interest me anymore,” he said. “What interests me is making weird hippie music for people to get high to. With Wolf, I’ll brag a little bit more, talk about money and buying shit. But not like any other rapper, I’ll be a smart-ass about it. Now it’s just girls throwing themselves at me and shit, but I got a girl back home. People who want the first album again, I can’t do that. I was 18, broke as fuck. On my third album, I have money and I’m hanging out with my idols. I can’t rap about the same shit.”

DX will keep you updated as more information comes to light.

    1. that means he’s changed his style.
and wtf didn’t he say that he doesn’t smoke?
though Goblin is a getting high albums with those beats and storytelling

    2. He’s not that great anyway. I like Yonkers when it came out, but Goblin was an awful album with 1997 casio keyboard beats. He can’t keep talking about the same subject matter over and over. Look at Mobb Deep

    3. Of COURSE money changed him, guys. If you were in his situation you’d do the same thing.

It doesn’t mean he’s dumbing down anything, he’s just not going to be as violent.

Although I’m not sure how many of OF’s hardcore fans are going to support this…

    4. Why are people shocked smh. Course he can rap about that but he wants to grow as an artist.

Yeah money changed him, why is that bad? As long as the music’s good i dont give a FUCK

      1. I couldnt agree more. these kids dont know shit. even the beats are sub-par to what E.S.H.A.M. did years ago.

    5. i’ve always thought he was a pretty good rapper.. i just can’t stand people that have literally no message in their lyrics and talk about raping kittens and shit the whole time.. maybe i’ll start to like him?

      1. he’s never once mention “raping” kittens or cats.

As a matter of fact, he’s never mentioned cats or kittens at all. ever.

      2. at suggamatic why are you acting as if you dont get donny’s point? Tyler himself just said he’s talked about raped so what’s your point?

    6. If he’s just trolling, and we’re gonna get more “Bastard” and “Goblin”-esque stuff, fine by me. I don’t have any problem with that at all, I love his past work. However, I do want him to progress (sonically and lyrically) eventually. It doesn’t have to be on this next album but I wanna see Tyler, and really all of OF, do some different things, and experiment, which in all fairness they already do, and very well I might add.

So, really I’m happy whatever the outcome may be.

    7. tyler is not hot, not lyrical, not original . Every underground rapper sounds the same. There work is as generic as the I sold dope, I’m from the hood, I’m hard rap. Every single one of these underground rap dudes tries to sound all intelligent and educated with a million unproven conspiracy theories. This mess is generic formula garbage.

      1. judging by this statement, I can tell you haven’t head much of Tyler’s work. He doesn’t sound like anyone I’ve ever heard. Beat wise or rapping. I mean, he can come off a little eminemish at times but that is the closest comparison I can find

      2. LOL and the mainsteam DOESNT sound all the same?! fuck outta here.

on a side note, tyler never tried to sound intelligent, nice ignorant comment there.

    8. Talking about rape and cutting bodies up, it just doesn’t interest me anymore,” he said. “What interests me is making weird hippie music for people to get high to……..lolwhat a loser fake ass style who listens to this guy ?

    9. Be prepared for the backlash, rap fans have one track minds, if you dont say the same shit over and oer, the crybabies creep out the woodworks…… Course if you stay the same, there’s a hole seperate batch of crybabies for that too

      What can you do??

    10. i respect his way of buisness but i dont know about his music man, his work is not original i heard that gravediggaz album and big ls first album and that was that jefferey dahmer type shit too but 15 years prior to him …and no fruity loop beats

    11. I fucks wit Tyler, how can you say he’s not original nobody has a swag like ODD FUTURE they whole story is different and Tyler ate Pusha T on his on song
