Following Watch the Throne’s release in August 2011, Jay-Z and Kanye West have scored their first number one single off the album.
According to Billboard.com’s The Juice, “Niggas in Paris” 
lodges at the top spot on this week’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, bumping Lil Wayne and Drake’s “She Will” from the highest position.
Back in September, the duo neared the top of the chart with “Otis,” which peaked at No. 2. “Niggas in Paris” marks Jay-Z’s ninth and Kanye’s fifth song to top the chart.

This was definitely the most radio friendly on the CD. It probly came down to a choice between this and “Illest Motherfucker Alive” and they went with this one since it’s shorter and has the break at the end. Both songs are pretty similar and have the same “colors” in them.

No one is debating that Em and Royce are nice lyrically. However, lyrics are not the only aspect of being an artist. If that were the case all these battle rappers would have deals. Em and Royce album though very good, alot of the time were just a bunch of punchlines that lacked connection to the song or anything around it. Kanye and Jay missed the mark on some of their songs but substance wise and the point of the album was clear; as such the lyrics followed suit.

And the song just goes hard, the bridge at the end, the hook, it’s catchy AF. Gotta Have It is dope too, and maybe could be a hit, but Illest MOtherfucker Alive is too slow-paced, and raw-spitting like for the radio

Watch The Throne was cool but this year I feel like all the major rap releases this year failed to live up to expectations. J. Cole’s album was cool but I feel like his mixtape material was better. There’s nothing that’s giving me that epic feeling like when I first hear Lupe’s Food & Liquor, or Kanye West’s College Dropout. No one is really hitting that next level, play it for years, never get tired of albums these days.
You answered your own question, your high expectations. Once the music didn’t match the media hype and comment drivel, you saw it for what it really was. WTT had no buzz, except why it had not leaked yet. The album is an arena-stadium album, made for touring, not for iPods.

to say the album had one video(wayne dropped 3)…no radio friendly singles(how to love, 6’7″, john), no promotion except for private listening parties, word of mouth and the historic “no leak”…this is a milestone. this is something drake should have done when he had the hype that he failed to live up to and wayne couldve done, being the number one artist in hip hop. plus these are “old” rappers still being revalant while the game is continuing to become younger and even more commercial.
WTT had promotions but not the the usual videos and staff.. Jay and Kanye thought they were bigger than they actually are, thats why they didnt go all out. But their sales was a reality check that their time is passing. Age is no excuse if you call your album Watch the Throne.

The WTT album really has grown on me. At first listen, I was like “Meh” but after listening to it a few more times, I can say that this is ranging from good to great. Not classic because Lift Off and Who Gon Stop Me are the two songs I skip, but everything else is pretty dope. And nice seeing N*ggas in Paris hit #1 on the chart. “That shit cray!”

I remember thinking how wack Niggaz In Paris was, but then me and my homies kept on humming the tune and before we knew it, we were bumping that joint. The only joints I still don’t feel are h.a.m and why i love you. I really don’t know what the hell they were thinking putting together the latter, utter noise pollution right there. But in all, the shit grew on me, and honestly am beginning to understand the madness into the changing beats and bars. It reminded me of Big Puns Yeeeah baby album, not to compare the two, but more in the sense that the first times I played it, I was like wtf? Then before I knew it, I was enjoying it…Other expamples are EPMD’s Unfinished Business, U gods golden arms, masta killas no said date to name a few. whew…
I don’t really care for Lift Off either but Who Gon Stop Me is my shiiit! I love the energy of that song. Its actually one of my favs. Now I don’t like Made In America that much. I see where they where goin with that but its kind of a snoozer. Overall GREAT album.
Lyrically, WTT was subpar. Musically, it was absolutely AMAZING. The production and beats exceeded the bars. And I never understood basing the best emcee on albums sold instead of who got rawer rhymes. Because anybody with common Hip-Hop knowledge knows that Wayne ain’t better than Jigga. Some of ya’ll dudes really disappointing me. Idk if ya’ll hate just because or ya’ll just don’t appreciate great art when you hear it, but the shit really pisses me off. No I don’t expect everyone to have the same taste, and if you don’t like Jay-Z or Ye, thats cool. But all you so called “fans” who are complaing about WTT have you heads so far up Reasonable Doubt and College Dropout’s asses that you fail to recognize the gift these two have given us.
1st of all, JAY-Z and KANYe DID NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. They both have more money than they know what to do with. Both of their legacies are set in stone. They made this album for the love, and I think for artist on their level to do that is dope as fuck.
2nd of all, they DID NOT have to do anything innovative. They could have just remade that ‘Blueprint’ sound or some other old style that we’ve already grown accustom to. If they did, even if it was dope, it would have been more of a novelty project than a legit album, and it would have been quickly forgotten. They could have easily done some shit like that, but instead they took the time to create a project that is a unique addition to both of their catalouges, which is awesome. Hov is worth half a billion $. He doesn’t have to touch on black on black crime. Ye has been the top producer in the game for years. He doesnt have to experiment with dubstep. But they did. 4 the love.
As a fan, I honestly feel like I’m being spoiled. Are the lyrics on par with American Gangster? Is the production better than MBDTF? Does it matter? Who else does shit like this? Then on top of that they throw this tour together, which happens to be the dopest show I’ve ever been to in my life. They deserve every bit of the success they have.
Is WTT a classic? Who knows. All I know is I’ll damn sure remember it like it was.
