The biggest problem with mixtapes as of late is there are no definitive dates to look out for on the upcoming projects. Many times artists will drop the tapes at random, the internet goes crazy, and it’s business as usual. Well, there are finally some solid (we hope) dates to stick with, as the promise of other projects continue to push on. At the close of last week, Waka Flocka Flame surprised everyone with “Lebron Flocka James 3.” The Fozzie Bear Aficionado came through with Part 3 of his “Lebron Flock James” series. Will this be a trilogy or Part 4 coming soon? Who knows. As another surprise, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, and Curren$y dropped “1st Class Cabin Pt. 2.” Three the hard way united under a marijuana leaf to deliver a whole collection of dope cuts.
This week, DJ Smallz drops the 6th installments of “Southern Smoke Radio” and “Southern Smoke Radio R&B.” The first is hosted by G-Unit’s Southern Gentleman Shawty Lo, with the second from Bei Major. Smallz does some hosting of his own on November 15th with Layzie Bone’s “The Law Of Attraction.” He shares that date with Ludacris, who will be dropping “1.21 Gigawatts: Back To the First Time” (get the Back to the Future reference?). Luda hinted at this one a few months back and then came with the Gucci Mane-assisted track “Shake N Fries”
late last week.
Before that happens, Young Chris and producer Cardiak bring “The Revival” on Halloween, along with production team Play-N-Skillz’ “Red October.” While Short Dawg will also be dropping a mixtape on Pumpkin Day, it seems like more rappers would/should be dropping some mixes. Maybe they’re just giving some space to Freddie Gibbs, who is dropping his mixtape/album Cold Day In Hell on that cold day.

In some limbo news, a newly slimmed down Fat Joe is dropping the mixtape album “The Darkside Vol. II” at some point. Next month, Consequence gets “Curb Certified,” while we’re still waiting for Lloyd Banks’ “Cold Corner 2” and Young Buck’s “Bond Money.” A Halloween surprise from any of them is more than welcome.
