T.I. is wasting no time getting back to business after over a year away from making music. He said on Thursday that he’s linked up with B.o.B to record some tracks and that a simple collaboration may turn into something bigger.
“We’ve been goin’ in. We’re actually flirting with the idea of doin’ an album together called The Man and the Martian,” he told MTV’s Sway on Shade 45. “We just been compiling material, he and I together, and it’s coming out real good.”
The joint album concept has seen highs this year with Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throneas well as Royce Da 5’9 and Eminem’sBad Meets Evilfinding success in the market. Tip said, however, he’s wanted to do a collaboration album since Jay-Z and R. Kelly released a pair of joint albums.
“[Bad Meets Evil and Watch the Throne] did inspire me,” he said, “but I always have wanted to do a collaborative album. Even back when Jay did that with R. Kelly. I spoke to Usher about doing one of those before; the stars and the moon hadn’t aligned appropriately.”

Tip, who also mentioned he toyed with the idea of a joint album with Usher, couldn’t pin down who would be the Man and who would be the Martian, as both rappers could play either roles, nor could he give any definite answers on a possible album: “Even this, this is a conversation we had, this [album] is just an idea. It’s not set in stone, it’s not concrete as of yet.”
