J. Cole certainly had the best week ever. The Roc Nation rapper’s debut, Cole World: The Sideline Story, bowed at the top of the charts, moving more than 217,000 units. Wall Street Journalchronicled the album’s creation and how Cole went from being a bill collector to having the best-selling album in the country. His accomplishments weren’t overlooked: his label boss, Jay-Z, congratulated him on his success, as did his wife Beyonce. And on top of it all, the Fayetteville, North Carolina native revealed he’s already working on his sophomore album.

Irv Gotti Lets Loose On Lloyd, Regrets Dealing With Nas During Jay-Z Beef

Former Murder, Inc. honcho Irv Gotti made an appearance this week on MTV’s RapFix Live, speaking with Sway Calloway about a range of topics. The mogul had dicey words for his former signee Lloyd, claiming that he disrespected him after giving him the ability to walk away from his deal. Meanwhile, Gotti, who also put in a bid for Def Jam presidency, reflected on dealing with Nas during the height of his spar with Jay-Z, expressing that he wishes he had never gotten involved.

Earlier this week, LA Weekly broke the story that ex-LAPD homicide detective Greg Kading had made explosive claims that Suge Knight and Sean “Diddy” Combs orchestrated the murders of Biggie and 2Pac. HipHopDX got the chance to speak with Kading who clarified his statements the day after the claims went public, explaining that the former Death Row and current Bad Boy Records chiefs had something to do with the assassinations. Lil’ Cease later spoke on the statements, dismissing their credibility. 

Diddy Loses His Cool In The Club, While T.I. Tries To Smooth The Situation

Diddy and the post-incarcerated T.I. paid a visit to club Compound this past weekend, resulting in an altercation between Puff and a patron for allegedly not drinking Ciroc vodka. T.I. smoothed out the situation by calming down the Bad Boy CEO, while Diddy later apologized for his actions. Tip took to the radio later in the week to speak on the controversy, explaining that there was a lot of “embellishment” regarding the media’s coverage of the incident.
