All J. Cole Everything. That’s been the mantra lately when it comes to the most listened to tracks. That doesn’t mean other artists need to fall by the sidelines (get it?). The most surprising this week being Childish Gambino (he sorta collaborated with J. Cole on a “Who Dat” remix). The Wu-generated sometimes rapper sometimes comedian (he’s Donald Glover) was a new and surprising entry to the Top Singles world with “Bonfire” (He made it in at #8. Congratulations!). His album Camp drops November 15th. Aside from that, the usual suspects flooded the airwaves despite a plethora of new tracks that arrived this week. Maybe once The Sideline Story officially drops next week, J. Cole will open the list up to some new talent. Until then…

J. Cole Started the List, J. Cole Finished the List

If you haven’t heard by now, J. Cole’sCole World: The Sideline Story leaked. The album, slated for a September 27th release, isn’t heavy on collaborations, but the ones that are on there are pretty heavy-hitting. He took the #1 slot with “Nobody’s Perfect,” a cut that brings Missy Elliott out of hiding. Even better, she’s singing on it! However, Cole’s collabs aren’t carrying the fans, as the title track “Cole World” came in at #2 this week. The Jay-Z feature “Mr. Nice Watch” came at #4, while the Trey Songz-assisted joint “Can’t Get Enough” recirculated and closed the list at #10. He was all over the list. It’s not all his fault though. Nas came back on the list at #5 with more unreleased goodness in the form of “Your Mouth Got You In It” and Drake followed with Rawsified “Free Spirit” at #6. (Shout out to Phonte at #9).

Mac Miller Continues to Reach Twitter Milestones

It started back in April. Mac Miller announced that for every 100k added in Twitter followers, he would drop a new track for the fans. Songs like “People Under the Stairs” celebrated 300k, “Love Lost” for 400k, “Family First” with Talib Kweli at half a mil, “Just a Kid” at 600k, “The Miller Family Reunion” dropped for 700k, the Clams Casino-produced “Cold Feet” for 800k, and now “Willie Dynamite” for 900k. The new track made #7 on the list. Who knows what will happen when Mac Mill reaches a milli? Maybe get Lil Wayne on the track? Maybe not. It seems like Mac Miller is really hitting these Twitter milestones. He didn’t invent the trend, but he’s certainly riding with it. Even DJ Premier joined the trend – once he reached 50k in followers, he unleashed “Face the Facts” and it featured (ta-da!) Mac Miller.
