These days, rappers will casually announce a mixtape, and sometimes they see the project through; other times it floats into oblivion. That’s exactly what we thought happened with Freddie Gibbs and his project “A Cold Day In Hell.” Gibbs linked with Statik Selektah on the “Str8 Kill No Filla” mixtape this summer, and since then his “Cold Day” remained on the backburner. Well fear not, because last week, Freddie Gibbs dropped the first leak off the mixtape “187 Proof” produced by the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. It was specified that the track would appear on the CTE signee’s “A Cold Day In Hell” yet a release date is still unknown. If Gangsta Gibbs follows in his bossman Young Jeezy’s footsteps, he’ll drop the mixtape randomly the same way Jeezy did with “The Real Is Back 2.”

In the beginning it was assumed that the biggest cosign Mac Miller had was from Wiz Khalifa. Now though, the little brother of Wiz has legends wanting to work with him. Last week, DJ Premier leaked a cut on his radio show called “Face the Facts” that he produced for Mac Miller. We learn now that this track will appear on a collaboration with DJ Jazzy Jeff titled “’92 Til Infinity” (a take on Souls Of Mischief’s album title and classic song , except minus one year). So not only did Mac Miller get a legendary superproducer on a track, he has a veteran DJ working with him on a mixtape? All this before he drops his sorta debut Blue Slide Park on November 8th. Talk about coming in with a bang.

While release dates still remain undefined, one definite release comes from Trey Songz on November 1st. Trigga will drop back to back mixtapes “#Lemmeholdatbeat2” and “Anticipation 2” simultaneously. Makes sense, considering he sings and rhymes these days. Songz has been reworking tracks like “Headlines,” “Gucci Gucci,” “She Will,” and a version of “N***as in Paris” called “Trigga In Africa.” This dude never stops working.

Finally, Jadakiss may not be introducing “Top 5 Dead Or Alive” anytime soon. Kiss revealed he’s working on “The Champ Is Here 4,” which may or may not precede “Top 5.” Whichever comes first, new Jadakiss is always welcomed.
