Nas, Large Professor, Akinyele & Fatal Reunite On Stage For “Live At The BBQ”

Yesterday (September 3) at New York City’s Rock The Bells performance, a legendary 20 year-old collaboration was recreated. Show headliner Nas performed his very first released song, “Live At The BBQ” , which appeared on Main Source‘s debut album, Breaking Atoms. For the Governor’s Island performance, Nas brought Main Source leader Large Professor on stage, as well as fellow guests Akinyele and Fatal (a/k/a Joe Fatal).

While Nas and his mentor Large Professor have collaborated numerous times throughout the last two decades, the Queensbridge emcee has not been as active with Ak or Fatal. Akinyele, another Large Professor pupil, has not released an album since 2004’s Live At The Barbeque: Unreleased Hits on the now defunct Eastern Conference Records. Joe Fatal left emceeing and production, and went on to manage artists such as Bounty Killer and Mystikal, according to an Unkut.com interview.

    1. Large Professor. So under-appreciated. His remix of Gangstarr’s “Gotta Get Over (Taking Loot)” is one of my favorite beats of all time…
