Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter IV still managed to cause mass hysteria this week as the album dropped off late Sunday night (check out the review) and with it came a bevy of leaks that had the world (or DX audience) listening at attention. While in the world of music release-wise it wasn’t all about Weezy, with artists like Glasses Malone and Smoke DZA bringing in albums of their own. However, Wayne managed to rock the top singles, being held accountable for most of the top list. Some people snuck in, but that’s only when Wayne wasn’t looking (or trying on new jeggings).

Wayne’s Top Track Barely Even Features Wayne

We decided to post a long loop of all of the interludes from Wayne’s Tha Carter IV as they featured some of Hip Hop’s top notch wordsmiths. The “Intro” was just Wayne, “Interlude” features Tech N9ne and Andre3000, and “Outro” features Bun B, Nas, Busta Rhymes and Shyne. As the track was one long mix, it sounded like a 7+ minute posse cut. That’s a win all around, and would have fared pretty well as one long track on The Carter IV. Unfortuntately it wasn’t, but either way it made for great listening chopped up on the album and merged by us. While Wayne did succeed at conquering most of the list, we do wonder how he feels knowing that the #1 spot was due to him being mainly absent. Oops.

The Rest of YMCMB Needs Love Too

Wayne wasn’t the only Ca$h Money Billionaire showing up for the singles show. Drake made the list by way of Justin Bieber. The Biebs tackled Drake’s “Trust Issues” and in his exiting puberty voice nailed the track. There was some stock audio of Drizzy mixed in, and while the track wasn’t as potent as that Weeknd / Drake “Trust Issues” mix from a while back, it still got the job done. Birdman also climbed on the list through Lil Wayne. The track “I Got Some Money On Me” hit the ground running. The song may or may not be featured on the follow-up to 2006’s Like Father Like Son, but either way it showed the Ca$h Money kingpin paired with his Young Money counterpart. Briefly venturing into Shadyville, Yelawolf made his way into the list with “No Hands” which is the next single on October’s Radioactive. Judging by that track it sounds like Yela has a whole lot up his sleeve (the tattoos not his shirt).
