Last night (Thursday, April 10, 2003) an entourage of five cars was rolling through the Mid-City area when another car carrying three men pulled up along side. The car, which contained three men, opened fire on the other cars. Police spokesman Don Cox said bullets hit two of the vehicles.

Calvin Broadus, aka Snoop Dogg, was in one of the vehicles. The rap superstar was not hit, but one of his bodyguards was injured in the shooting. The man who was hit is an off-duty police officer with the Inglewood Unified School District. According to police Sgt. Brian Owen, he was shot in the back and taken to a hospital and released early Friday morning.

Sgt. Owen also said that one of the shooters wanted to speak to Snoop Dogg, a few words were exchanged before shots were fired. At this point, no arrests have been made. There is no doubt that fingers will begin to point towards Suge Knight, but there is no proof of that right now.
