Too $hort was recently wrangled into a public beef with Messy Marv after the latter fired shots at him on Twitter, but the beef is apparently one-sided. Speaking with Brooklyn Martino, the Oakland, California veteran explained that Marv felt disrespected in “two or three instances” and “got mad,” but said that he personally has no ill will.

“It’s a little story that go with it. He don’t really want to talk about it. When I talked with him on the phone, everything was cool,” he recalls. “He was like, ‘This happened, that happened.’ I’m like, ‘Dude, what you’re telling me sound like real small stuff that’s just misunderstanding. What you don’t want to do is push this forward.’ And he pushed it forward. So it is what it is. We’ll see what happens.”

As much as Marv feels disrespected and continues to challenge him, Too $hort claims he would never respond on wax or on the Internet.

“You could rap about me right now and I’d never say something back. I would never be in a rap battle, and I would never be in a computer battle. Ever,” he said. “You know, I guess we’re just going to see what this develops into, because we have a lot of mutual friends and we’ve worked together and we’ve never had any kind of friction between his people or my people. So we’ve got to see what happens now. It’s going to be interesting, though.”
