J. Cole’s “Work Out” video is scheduled to premiere on BET’s “106 & Park,” later today. But in a move that represents the changing landscape of video, the clip has already been released on Vevo—the sanctioned music video website for artists signed to Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, Abu Dhabi Media and EMI. The video was delayed after a rough cut of the first version leaked online, and during a recent streaming broadcast, Cole addressed the leak and other issues related to his upcoming debut album.
“We shot the ‘Work Out’ video twice because the first one leaked,” J. Cole explained, during a U-Stream session for his Any Given Sunday series. “The leak you saw was the first edit, and I seen the same thing. I was not happy about it…so we had to reshoot it. We reshot it in Brooklyn, and it seems way more like how the song is supposed to look visually. And then we shot ‘Can’t Get Enough’ in Barbados.
Cole added that the “Can’t Get Enough” and “Lost Ones” videos will most likely debut closer to the album’s September 27 release date. And for those who weren’t able to catch J. Cole while he was opening for Rihanna’s “Loud” tour, Cole says he’ll support his upcoming album with a series of live dates at the House of Blues.
