On Saturday (August 6), Eminem took the stage at the Lollapalooza festival, which has been host to acts such as Snoop Dogg, Kanye West, and the Roots. With his vast catalogue of fan favorites, Shady made sure it was a night for fans to remember.

Performing cuts from his latest solo album, Recovery, such as “Won’t Back Down” and “Love the Way You Lie,” the Detroit emcee surprisingly didn’t shy away from Relapse, an album he heavily criticized. Included in the set was “3 A.M.,” a murderous tale that was part of the 2009 LP.

Shady made it a well-rounded set, looking to The Eminem Show(“Square Dance,” “Cleanin’ Out My Closet”) and Marshall Mathers LP (“Kill You,” “The Way I Am,” “Stan”) to remind fans of the rapper that took over the music world in the late 90s and early 2000s. Em also brought with him Bad Meets Evil partner-in-rhyme Royce Da 5’9″ for a rendition of “Fast Lane” and “Lighters,” for which Bruno Mars came on stage. Also on hand was Skylar Grey for “I Need a Doctor.” Mr. Porter, also known as D12’s Kon Artis, played the role of hype man.

To close the show, Shady dove into a his back of tricks and performed a medley of the “zany first single” style songs, which consisted of 1999’s “My Name Is,” 2000’s “Real Slim Shady,” and 2002’s “Without Me,” before putting a punctuation mark on the set with the considerably more serious cuts “Not Afraid” and “Lose Yourself.”
