This week in Audio Singles, for the first time yet, a track held the #1 spot for two consecutive weeks. Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Otis” not only held #1 by a tough margic, the West-produced effort saw two cover versions make the list as well. One from longtime Jay prodder Game, as well as a freestyle version from a onetime foe-turned-Roc-A-Fella Records artist in Jadakiss, assisted by L.O.X/D-Block brother Styles P. Approaching Watch The Throne, things are only beginning to heat up this summer.

The song saw numerous cover attempts from an array of artists, ranging from Roc alumni Freeway and Young Chris, to D-Block, of course – to Game. Otis Redding, the song’s sample and namesake is being honored according to the late Atlantic Records singer’s daughter.

Game’s R.E.D. Heats Up

With “Pot of Gold” missing the Top 10 this week for the first time since release, Game’s Cool & Dre-produced “Infrared” hit the charts, along with “Uncle Otis.” A month from Game’s fourth solo album, R.E.D., signs look good in interest for the Compton, California emcee’s return to Aftermath Entertainment and Dr. Dre at the boards.
