Pharrell Williams recently hit the studio with Kendrick Lamar, praising the Compton, California upstart for his rhyming abilities and overall aesthetic. While in the lab, the Neptunes producer showered heavy praise on K-Dot, reminiscing on blasting #Section80 while on a trip in Tokyo, Japan.
“He’s dope. You wanted to know what I thought about Kendrick? I was bumping his mix CD when we was in Tokyo, driving around Shibuya, hopping in and out of the truck in Harajuku. Just listening to it. ‘Hol’ Up’ is the shit. ‘Rigamortus,’ he dumbed on that.”
Not only that, but the Billionaire Boy branded him as one of the most promising young MCs in the game. “He one of the next out of Compton. He’s one of the next in America for me, period. He’s one of the next. He’s nice. Dope mixtape, got his own flavor, took a chance and just did what he wanted to do and that’s why it worked for him, and that’s why you’re going to see where he end up.”
