Over the past few years, vinyl records have become one of the few forms of physical music that consumers want to purchase. Now, one of Hip Hop’s most celebrated emcees, Pharoahe Monch, is looking to hook his fans up with a wax pressing of his latest albumW.A.R. (We Are Renegades).
According to a recent video from Earbits.com’s Roshmond “Sum” Patton, the Internet radio station has teamed up with Monch to give away 100 signed copies of the vinyl release of W.A.R. All listeners will have to do to win a copy is listen to Earbits’s Hip Hop channel, wait for a song from Pharoahe Monch to play and share it on Facebook.

In other news, up-and-coming emcee Mike Jaggerr recently spoke to Jacina Love at the Generation Next showcase about his recent mixtape The Eleventh Hour. The Wilmington, DE upstart explained how he learned to handle all aspects of his music career, from making the beats to spitting the rhymes to even recording his own songs.

“Everything I do came out of necessity,” he noted. “I taught myself how to make beats…[by] taking music theory classes because I couldn’t find anybody that could give me what I wanted. I picked up skills over the years, so I record everything. Sometimes I record in the crib, sometimes I record in the studio. It’s just whatever, nobody can tell the difference.”

Finally, although the year is only half-over and fans have yet to hear the upcoming release of artists like Game, Young Jeezy, J. Cole and others, Complex decided to break down the 25 best tracks of 2011 thus far.

Pulling from a variety of genres and styles, Complex’s staff gave nods to wide variety of Hip Hop’s top-tier artists, including Eminem, Jay-Z, Kanye West and many more. Some notable inclusions on the list include the Duck Down-approved trio Random Axe’s “Random Call” at #23, underground titan Tech N9ne’s “He’s a Mental Giant” at #15 and OFWGKTA maestro Tyler, the Creator’s “Yonkers” at #2.
Yet it was Lil Wayne, Drake and Rick Ross who proved the most successful artists on the list, with each rapper placing on three of Complex’s top 25. Weezy, Drizzy and Rozay’s features on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One” even earned the three megastars the top position on the list.
