On July 26, Watts, California emcee Jay Rock will release his debut album, Follow Me Home on Strange Music/Top Dawg Entertainment. The former Warner Brothers Records artist and DXnext alum recently spoke to DubCNN.com about the album’s details, “It’s gonna be a classic album. I’m telling you, y’all gonna enjoy what you hear,” he said.
Jay Rock also revealed that production on Follow Me Home will include work from J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League and Ervin “EP” Pope. Vocal guests on the project include Tech N9ne, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick, Jay Rock’s TDE label-mate, began his industry career running with the emcee. Jay also spoke on Lamar’s development, into one of Rap’s top prospects.
“We all grew together, we were together at the time when I was going through my situation with Warner Brothers and everything, he was always with me. He was with me everywhere I went, that’s little bro. I finally broke away from Warner Brothers, got my situation right and I told [Kendrick Lamar], ‘Go! It’s your turn, do your stuff. Let the people know who Kendrick Lamar is!’ Look at him now. He’s one of the hottest young artists out here in L.A. right now as we speak. Dr. Dre hollered at him and wanted to work. It’s the music man, we’ve been in this muthafucka forever going hard and it’s good to see him rising like that. That’s my lil’ brother.”
