Well, the joke’s on us. Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Watch the Throne never dropped on the 4th of July and judging from reports, it never was scheduled to. We have now been told that the official (confirmed) release date is August 2nd. In other news, the second week of July will deliver a bundle of new albums. Pimp C’s posthumous Still Pimpin arrives, as we’ve already heard the leak “Grippin On the Wood” with Bun B and Big K.R.I.T. Speaking of Bun B, Mr. Trill shows up on The Cool Kids’ When Fish Ride Bicycles that same week on the track “Gas Station”. DJ Khaled’s We the Best Forever is still scheduled for July 19th, and the following week Jay Rock, Wu-Tang and even Black Rob arrives with his album Game Tested, Streets Approve. Like his latest leak states, that’s cause for a “Celebration”.
While the summer has a lot to look forward to musically, the biggest date comes after on September 27th. J. Cole will release his debut Cole World: The Sideline Story, as well as Big K.R.I.T.’s Live From the Underground and Yelawolf’s Radioactive. The first leak off Radioactive came this past week, “Gangsta Of Love” with CyHi Da Prynce.
