3 Little Digs recently chopped it up with Maybach Music signee Pill about his recent acting debut in a film called 96 Minutes. Directed by Aimee Lagos, the film follows four people’s lives in Atlanta following a car-jacking, with Pill playing a gangbanger named Rodger. The Atlanta rapper gave a bit of insight into his character and what is was like on set. He also recalled one day when his brother and friends visited him on set in a neighborhood of Atlant near their native Pink City.
“It was dope, man; the filming was great,” he said. “I play a character by the name Rodger, a neighborhood gangbanger actually, so I’ve already played that role. [Laughs] Well, I wasn’t gangbanging, but I ran with a crew of niggas. But the filming was spectacular. Everbody on the set was nice…it’s always good to be around people with good energy who are passionate about their craft.”
He added, “[What was best about the experience was] just to be able to be in the ‘hood that you were around and actually be filming a movie in it and have your brother and his homies come up like, ‘Damn, my little bro’s in a real movie,'” he explained. “That moment and that feeling…on the day that my brother and his homeboys that we grew up in the projects with…that was amazing, that was wonderful.”

Although 96 Minutes has yet to hit theaters, star Evan Ross recently won the award for Breakthrough Performance at SXSW this year. The full interview can be seen below.
In other news, Philadelphia-born Roc Nation artist Satigold recently caught up with Billboard.com to discuss her long-awaited as-of-yet untitled sophomore LP. According to Santigold, the album, which features the likes of Major Lazer co-producer Switch, Ricky Blaze and members of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and TV On the Radio, has a very epic and well-rounded sound to it

“I wanted it to feel dynamic and powerful,” she said. “I still have the songs that sound very electronic and clubby, but I have a couple ballads on this one – my own type of ballads, where they just sound big, like the way some old Kate Bush or Peter Gabriel songs were…on this one song, we did a whole section that has a bottle used as the percussion, so there’s layers upon layers of Greg Kurstin playing a bottle and literally filling it with different layers of water, and stacking each note. Mixed with a marimba and taiko drums!”
Santigold’s upcoming release, which is set for a fall release on Downtown/Atlantic Records, marks her first since her 2008 debut Santogold.
Finally, Bay Area emcee Rondo is preparing his return to rap music with his upcoming album The Antidote. In a recent press release, the San Francisco veteran talked about his latest LP’s socially conscious roots and positive message.

“I want people to know that within all of us lies the capability to change any and every aspect of our own reality,” he explained. “Plain and simple, I am not supposed to be here. As a product of my reality, I should be in jail or dead. But I transcended that notion, and we all can…only until you know who you are, can you learn to appreciate and love self. So, having said that, we need to know our true value, not the nothingness we have been taught we are! If we can learn that life is the most precious gift one could ever have in this world, then and only then will we treat each other with the utmost respect.”
