Ja Rule has turned himself over to authorities to begin serving his two-year prison sentence in New York.

The rapper appeared at a courthouse earlier today after spending time with his family and close friends. TMZ reports that his final words before entering the building were, “Real life is a fantasy, fuck fame… I’m ready for this to get over with. I am focused.”

The sentence stems from an arrest made in 2007 after he left a concert at NYC’s Beacon Theatre. After pulling over his car, police found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the vehicle.
